NBC 5 has confirmed the man is Sr. Sgt. Michael Monning with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.
Dyer said the symptoms exhibited were not Ebola-like, but because he was feeling ill and had been at the apartment he was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian out of an abundance of caution.
I doubt this guy has ebola - probably more like a stomach flu
I think this is where it's going to get tricky.
Yes, we should proceed with caution. But we all need to understand that the media is going to spin it much more dramatically than it is/should be.
Just because he entered the apartment (presumably using extreme caution, proper HAZMAT attire/precautions) does not mean he unequivocally contracted Ebola.
People who feed the mass hysteria with blanket statement and generalizations only add fuel to the fire.
The deputy was forced to enter the apartment with NO protective gear. He expressed concern and for whatever ridiculous reason he was made to enter with NO protective gear.
Then that's just ridiculous. He should have known better.

Well that is very troubling. Just goes to show you - health screenings may help, but may not be the answer.
he was not symptomatic when he left Liberia. That is the BIGGEST concern of all with this virus. 3-21 day incubation. A person could be exposed and circle the globe several times by plane before becoming sick.
The disease is only contagious once symptoms present themselves. He could have taken a flight with 100 legs, and he still wouldn't infect anyone if he was symptom free.
Right, which is why it's so troubling. People could be traveling everywhere that are not yet symptomatic, and "health screenings" would show jack shit.
