Eating Tunafish
Im not PG, so i want to preface my question w/ that.
I like to eat tuna (from the can) pretty often.
Is it bad to have tuna that often? I know for PG women, it is. Is it ok for non-PG women?

Re: Eating Tunafish
I don't know...I love tuna. I probably had it 2-3 times a week there for awhile. I'm fine and my baby is perfectly healthy...they say to have it only once a week (or is it once a month?), but sometimes you just have to live on the edge

I eat tuna sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. I dont think its bad for you as an adult but the mercury in it can be bad for a fetus, from what I have heard

I don't think there is anything wrong w/eating that much of it....however, if your mixing it w/mayo and eating it a few times a week.....I would cut down on it or try different recipes......mayo is sooooo fattening and soooo bad for you..

Re: Eating Tunafish
Even if you aren't pregnant you shouldn't eat more than one can of white albacore or 2 cans of light tuna every week. Mercury can cause a lot of problems. I know people who have had to go through chelation therapy to get rid of excess mercury. I would heed the warning and cut back on the tuna.
ETA (from NRDC): Exposure to mercury can be particularly hazardous for pregnant women and small children. During the first several years of life, a child's brain is still developing and rapidly absorbing nutrients. Prenatal and infant mercury exposure can cause mental retardation, cerebral palsy, deafness and blindness. Even in low doses, mercury may affect a child's development, delaying walking and talking, shortening attention span and causing learning disabilities.
In adults, mercury poisoning can adversely affect fertility and blood pressure regulation and can cause memory loss, tremors, vision loss and numbness of the fingers and toes. A growing body of evidence suggests that exposure to mercury may also lead to heart disease.

Re: Eating Tunafish
I wouldnt eat it more than once or twice a week due to the mercury.
My friends cousin works at a sushi place and she ate sushi almost everyday and got mercury poisoning. I know salmon isnt the same as tuna but still.
