EARWIGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone else having an earwig problem this year!??!?!!

They are EVERYWHERE! It's skeeving me out, I hate them. I sprayed around the house and dropped this chemical in my garden but they continue to stalk me!

I thought it was just us but noticed some at my moms the other day and then DH installed a jacuzzi at our friends house the other day and when they took the side cover off, it was just infested with the little buggers!!!!!!

Are they just overly abundant this year? Anyone get rid of them.

Help, I am so skeeved!

Yes! I had no issues at all then the past few days seem to be like a bug explosion!

I was having some work done outside my house so I thought that got them all moving, but obviously others are having issues too.

I have glue traps in my basement and everyday they have been trapping them!

OMG! Me too!!! It is making me crazy!!!! I am finding like 3 a day. I am in N. Bellmore- DH has sprayed all around and it does nothing. Luckily my cat spots most of them before we do and she gets them. Ugh- I got the creepies just thinking about them!

I was at work and one was in the sink, I was screaming I was here alone- and put on the hot water and the thing was swimming in it!!! It was 2 inches long- it was the biggest one I have ever seen. After it went down the drain, I pulled up the stopper so it would not crawl out! SOOOO GROSS!!!!

OMG!!!! I was going to ask the same EXACT thing on the board today!!!! I am in Stony Brook and we are literally being taken over by earwigs!!!! Luckily, the infestation seems to be outside, I've only come across 1 or 2 in the house, but outside.............OMG!!!!! I am losing my mind. They are EVERYWHERE!!!! All over my DD's jungle gym, all over the patio furniture, inside the deck box, etc. etc. It's like they are getting into EVERYTHING, nothing is safe!!! It's driving me INSANE!! They are SO nasty!!!!

At least I am not the only one suffering!!!

Edit - Last year we were being attacked at night in our house by them. Talk about GROSS!!!! There was like a week or so last year where they kept getting in somehow and they were everywhere at night. On the walls, floors, I even found one or two in my DD's dresser! SO disgusting!!! I had NO clue where they were coming from!! At least this year they are staying outside!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is sooooooo bad. My puppy loves to go after them though. I am waiting for terminix to come and spray again!

2 days ago, I was filling up my watering can and didn't realize they were in there and they started all coming out, one got on my hand and I screamed.

The things I read about them mention how similar they are to slugs - they like dark, moist places, eat leaves of plants, and come out a lot at night.

Here's something I haven't tried but read in more than one place:

"1 tablespoon each of molasses, oil and soy sauce, mix well so it is all combined--it will take some mixing to get the soy sauce and oil combined. Put it in a small container like a yogurt container and bury it up to the lip in the soil. Prop the lid so rain won't dilute it and wait a few days for it to ripen.

The writer said she came out on the third day to find the container full to the top with earwigs.

I can see how it would work. They would be drawn by the sweet smell of molasses. The oil would prevent them crawling out and the salt in the soy sauce would kill them. "

At first I couldn't even open this post bc they bugger kreep me out sooo much! But, I woke up this morning to about 7 of them in my living room! Ugh, I'm so skeevd! What can be done about them? I also opened my son's turtle sandbox yesterday and they were alllll over! He yelled "oh yukkie!!"

OMG!!!! We had them soooooo bad!!! In our finished basement! I have never been so grossed out in my entire life!!!

I was pumping and I looked down and one crawled into the bottle I was pumping into!!! (there is a little hole in the pump piece I guess to let air vent out) I SCREAMED!!! Threw the pump pieces across the room and picked up the babies and ran like He LL!!!!!! I threw all the pieces out I was so grossed out!

I packed up the babies and stayed at my moms for a few days and my husband sprayed the outside foundation, windows, inside and bombed the basement. It has been much better since. I still see them outside but not inside. They are just so GROSS! My husband also just put some summer fertilizer down that is also supposed to help get rid of them.
