ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
something is "off" with DS. He's not eating well at all (not even his favorite things) and he actually got the tylenol off the bathroom shelf last night and brought it to me saying "owww".
He doesn't have a fever at all - he could very well be teething, but he has all of his teeth except the 2yr old molars (he's 19m). He's sleeping well, maybe more than usual.
He's been touching his left ear, putting his finger in it, rubbing his blanket on it, etc - but he doesn't wince when I touch it at all. He let me clean it and its not draining excessively or anything either.
I'm taking him to the ped tonight just to be sure, but in your experience, could this be an ear infection? He's never had one, so I'm not sure what to think. Thanks!
UPDATE: I took him in tonight, just in case... no ear infection!
Just some standard cold congestion and teething. He made me look like a liar @ the office, too. No whining, no ear tugging, all smiles.
thanks

My ds currently has a double ear infection and sinus mess. You would never know it. Sleeping, running, screaming, climbing all like normal. I cancelled his EI yesterday, they came today and were shocked he was "so happy" . Could be ears.

Will always runs a high fever with an ear infection (102-104), but all babies are different! Hope it's just a cold!

Re: ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
DD went to the dr last Monday for pink eye. All was clear. Wednesday she started to seem off but she is getting her two year molars. By Friday morning she was really cranky, discharged a little fluid in her ear. I just KNEW it was an ear infection. Took her to the ped - DOUBLE EAR INFECTION. She never ran a fever.

I took DS to the ped for a cold 2 weeks ago and he had double ear infection (he was cranky, fever etc.)
While we were there I had them check DD and she has one too and I never woudl've know. She was acting fine. Doc actually said her ear was redder than his.

Re: ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
Definitely could be. DD#2 has had about 4 or 5 consistent ear infections this winter. Not one fever or any crankiness! Just a goopy nose.
DD#1 always had a fever when she got them.

Re: ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
The one time my DD had an ear infection, I had no idea. No fever, no crankiness, just coughing.

Re: ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
last time DS had an ear infection I had no idea. he was perfectly normal. it wasnt until his eye got crusty i thought it was pink eye and i took him in. turns out his ear infection went to his eye. so its definitely possible.
ETA just saw your update...nevermind!

Re: ear infection with no fever or crankiness?
Some of AJ's double raging ear infections were found at her well visits. All was normal, no fever, no crankiness, no pulling, no drewling, nothing at all of anything.. but BAM! double ear infection.
So yeah it can happen.
