Dyson parts

My husband was able to buy a Dyson at an incredible discounted price when the company he worked for went under. (It was used but in great condition.) Anyway, two parts were missing. My husband called Dyson. They took his info and placed the order. Three weeks have passed and we did not receive the parts and our card wasn't charged. Hubby called Dyson and they said that they cancelled the order because we didn't have a warranty and there is a "New York law" that says they can't ship the parts to us since we don't have one. I could understand if we wanted the parts for free but we were going to pay for them.

The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act doesn't say anything like that. I haven't found any NY-specific laws yet....

ETA: I just realized that that makes no sense.... the Dyson warranty is 5 years. That means that NOBODY can fix their vacuum/appliance after that?

Actually I had the same problem with Dyson. They do not ship to NY. They will give you another ph# to call, but the parts are more expensive I ordered from dyson and had them ship to an OOS address and then had that peson ship them to me.

There's a vacuum place on RT 110 across from the Walt Whitman mall. You may want to give them a shot. I know they carry a lot of Dyson parts in stock, but I don't know if they'll sell them directly to you.

I just called them. Hubby has been working so much that our conversations are a bit rushed and I probably missed something. Anyway, it has nothing to do with the warranty--it is because of tax laws. They gave me a number to Factory Direct Superstore. If the prices are too high I'll just have Dyson ship to my sister's house in KY. Thanks everyone!
