dumb question but theres one food i'm torn about...
would you give your 13mo old a pretzel rod? a small one like the honey wheat ones? He tends to put the last 1/4 of it in his mouth. I know he wont really try to swallow it (he sucks & chews) but should I just avoid the choking hazard just incase?! ...I only ask b/c he loves them and it keeps him occupied for a long time!!!

Pretzels are a choking hazard in general so I would avoid them.

DS loves pretzels...but I make sure when he has them, he is sitting down, and when he gets up, he has to give it to me. I personally think it is ok, but you need to watch him is all....

I wouldn't, even though I know alot of people do. Many people suggested that I give him the big ones when he was teething, but I didn't.

I think that all types of foods could be choking hazards. I give DS everything and I just watch him as he eats it...

Leya ate them at that age. Maybe just sit him in the high chair while he eats them. I used to be scared of them too but she was obsessed with them, lol. Once I realized she was ok I just let her have them but only in the high chair or stroller.

ITA. DD ate almost anything at that age. I would make sure she was sitting and I watched her. Now at 2 I let her walk around with a pretzel every now and then (I still prefer her to sit when eating anything.)

I'm not sure if I would. I have given him very tiny broken pieces. My DS has no teeth, though. I do give him teething cookies that he cannot break.

Christopher has had pretzels, but I don't think the rods. But he has like 40 teeth and takes VERY small bites
