Re: Dumb Food Q
I'm wondering this too. Do I feed cereal & the 'meats' dinners? I forgot to ask the doc on Tues.

My Ped doesn't tell me anything
He just said he can start meats. So since the ladies here said to do the dinners we started with that.
Of course it also makes me worried that this is his first step 2 foods. And he hasn't finished the peas and green beans yet. But we jumped to trying it anyway. So far i only fed him 1/2 a jar of the dinner. But i think that is too little. So i might go full jar since he seems to love it. But i can't see feeding him cereal too

Re: Dumb Food Q
If DC just had a bottle, I would think that the meal without the cereal will be filling enough.

Re: Dumb Food Q
When I started the dinners, I stopped giving cereal at lunch and dinner and just gave it at breakfast.
I would give the dinner and a bottle sometime in the proximitiy of the dinner.

Can I ask why you stopped feeding him if he still liked it?

Ok, if he was still eating, he was fine, so let the kid eat!!
This was something that I needed to learn and once *I* did things got a lot easier: DC is your child and sometimes you can do things without your ped
As long as DC's first food wasn't a Big Mac, I'm sure it'll be fine

Re: Dumb Food Q
I think once they are getting the dinners - the cereal goes out the window (for dinner)
I would give a jar of the dinner - and a Stage 1 fruit or veggie sometimes. I bought sooooo many in the beginning that I still need to use them up. I never moved onto the Stage 2 fruits or veggies. The containers are smaller though - so I think they go well with the Gerber dinners.

Re: Dumb Food Q
Personally I only feed cereal when the rest of the "meal" is nto filling enough.
For example..My Son doesnt eat meat yet , its my own personal choice...and so for dinner if I am giving him just veggies, I add cereal to it.
If he is having say pasta and veggies...then no cereal..the pasta fills him up?
KWIM??
Same for all meals.
I would give him cereal at least once a day, but I would also feed him till hes full.
ALL babies are differnt and the peds cannot help you one on one.
Another ex. My son likes to eat a LOT , but only 2x a day. I just started a lunch at 10 months. He would prefer a big b-fest and big lunch.
Let him be your cue and if hes hungry , feed him more.
they will 100% turn away when they are full.
