Drama queen

3 year old Dd woke up this morning complaining how hot it was. I put her in Capris but she needed to wear sneakers since she has soccer today. For a good 5 minutes she walked around saying my feet are hot, they are going to fall off, ugh socks and sneakers why not my pretty sandals. I asked her if she wanted to bring her jacket just in case she got cold and you would have thought I was handing her a winter jacket. Immediately, hand on hip, mama jackets are for when it's cold not HOT. It's soooooo hot. She's such a drama queen.

Re: Drama queen

It's a girl thing.
DD has been like that for years.
She is almost 6 now and it's DRAMA every single day with her outfits.
Her and DH had a fight the other morning because he picked out an outfit for her and chose pink jeggings (she LOVES pink).
She slumped her shoulders, started moping, gave him a hard time getting dressed, came in to see me (i was sick in bed) complaining about how Daddy always picks her outfits and she was hoping to wear something else
All the while he is yelling at her that she will wear what he tells her...

Oh boy!

It never ends.

My son demands to wear certain colors. Today he would only wear a red shirt.

It's definitely not a girl thing. It's a 3yo (plus and minus a few years) thing. Most boys do the exact same thing. One of DD's favorite sites she visits is pics and explanations of why toddlers are having full out tantrums/drama/etc. ("I wouldn't let him play in traffic."... "He's upset that he's in time-out.... that he put himself into.") Chat Icon Chat Icon

I love that site!
My Favorites;

He wanted rice, I gave him rice.

I wouldn't let him drown himself in the tub

Re: Drama queen

What website is that?

Also, I let my kids pick their own clothing. My rules are weather appropriate and location appropriate. For special event I get to pick what they wear. It cuts down on the fighting and gives them a sense of control.

Re: Drama queen

I have 2 boys - and I have admitedly created my own mosters.
They're now 7 and 5, but the are very particular about their clothing. What they like, what they don't, what they are comfortable in -

For the most part I go with it (older one used to ONLY wear jeans, little one NEVER wants to wear jeans) - that type of thing.

I am a control freak by nature, but I give in w/ the clothes. As long as you're neat and put together I don't care re: school or camp or going to the store - If we're going out or to an event, all bets are off and I will hold you down and wrestle you into the outfit I chose. I don't care if they kick and scream and cry and .......whatever. Chat Icon
