Drama Queen at 7 months?

I posted on a thread yesterday about baby's "true" temperment and it got me thinking. Over the past few months I've really come to realize that my daughter is a total drama queen. She is extremely happy and smiley most of the time but if we make her do something she doesn't want (like being on her belly too long, or feeding her something she doesn't like) she whines and cries and puts on a little show. The second we move her to a new position or feed her something else that she likes instead shes all smiles and giggles. I can def tell her drama queen cry from her regular needing something cry.

My question really is does anyone else have an infant like this, and if they did did they turn into a dramatic toddler or child? Am I supposed to, at 7 months, give in to her whines and give her what she wants because she is still so little, or am I supposed to be showing her that I'm not always going to just give in. Personally I really love her personality, I love how she is so expressive (ask me again in a few years, but for now I'm loving it!!) I'm just so clueless because from what I hear both DH and I were very quiet easy going babies, I have no idea where this litte personality came from!!

I think all babies do this. Chat Icon So long as their cries weren't ignored as infants, they realize that they quickly get what they want when they turn up the volume and cry. Chat Icon I don't think it means she is going to be a drama queen later in life.

lol maybe you are right... maybe i'm just being dramatic in my assesment of my dd as a drama queen Chat Icon I just see all these posts on here about people saying their babies never cry, and I'm thinking hmm my dd cries/whines whenever shes doing something she doesn't want to do, which some days more than others seems like alot!

Re: Drama Queen at 7 months?

my dd is a little over 8 months now and she started doing some of the same things your describing at 6.5 months. we def know her different cries and whines. some days i cannot take the extreme amount of whining! she wants what she wants and if she doesnt get it look out! she will throw a full blown FIT! and you and the whole world will know it! Chat Icon Chat Icon its gotten so bad the my dh and my parents all know the difference in her cries. i actually let her cio sometimes. she throws a fit when its bedtime or nap time so we do CIO. i also sometimes let her throw her fits, ie: lunch time.. she will shake her head no, spit out her food, swat the spoon if she doesnt like what im feeding her and will scream. so i let her throw her fit walk away (shes in her highchair safe) and come back in a min to try again and usually shes ok. Chat Icon if she consistantly does it a few times in a row i give up on the meal figuring shes not hungry and thats usually the case if she really carries on!

hang in there your not alone... although im PRAYING that its just a phase! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Drama Queen at 7 months?

Ha ha..they are all like that or maybe I just have two drama "queens" on my hands. My DD was the same and now my DS is the same at 7 months. They are smart little beings and they have no words to express themselves to they do it with actions and noises. If you want to see drama you should come around to our house when I am trying to feed my son with solids - Oh Lord its not happening and he will do everything to prevent any food getting in his mouth.

This is my 8 month old to a T! I am laughing because I feel like I am reading about her! She has never been an easy baby and now she has DEFINITE likes and dislikes and lets us know them! I do think it is cute now and then but ask me again when she is 3 and still like this...I also read about people with babies who are easy or never cry, but honestly, I wouldnt want DD's personality to be any different even though it drives me crazy all time time!

All of these descriptions sound like my dd too. esp with the solids. When I feed her something she doesn't like she throws a fit. I can alternate spoonfuls of something she likes with something she doesn't and one will be happy smiley, and the other will be mad fit throwing baby...

I feel exactly like you though, I love her personality so much and I wouldn't want her any different, I'm happy that shes trying to tell me what she wants in the only way she knows how right now.. buuuut like you said ask me again in 3 years lol
