Dr. Office vent
I had a dr. appointment scheduled tonight for 6:45pm. I work in Manhattan and my doctor is in West Islip (right by my house) so I need late appointments. The office just called a little while ago to say that the doctor can't see me tonight because he has to leave by 6.
You're probably thinking, no big deal, just reschedule. Well, I am 25 weeks and this is at least the 4th time this has happened to me. It's really starting to get on my nerves!
The woman I spoke to was very nice but she wanted to reschedule me with a nurse practitioner. My last appointment was with a NP because of another dr. cancellation. I practically had to demand to see a doctor. This office is really starting to get on my last pregnant nerve!
OK...vent over!

HOpefully they were able to get you the next avail. appointment if not then squeeze you in somewhere!!! Thats crazy! I hate stuff like this. I had an OB appointment the other day. I was her first appointment at 10 am. They took me in at 10 but the OB didnt come in until 10:20. *****?? She already started her day off late. No wonder why you always have to wait forever in the room. Its all the doctors fault. They make their own schedule aparently.

I had the same thing happen to me (my Dr is in West islip too) and I try to get the late appts so i can get hoem fromt he city and avoid time off work.....I have now found that if I get his 730AM appt I can be on a train into the city at 823 and I only end up being a little late and then I just eat at my desk.
The late appts they are always runnign behind but the early am ones I don't even have to sit down in the waiting room.

I go to South Bay.....I love my dr but the wait can be horrible.....but I haave complained to my Dr and he said to always come early because they deal with emergencies and the night appts always run late. But beleive me I have had issues with my drs office along the way.
I think its just part of being an OB office....pregnant woman always have emergencies.

i left south bay b/c of the horrendous waits. i really liked the Dr's- but an appointment to check weight & BP could take 3 hours b/c the Dr's were alway running behind.

I feel your frustration-at my 32 week appt my doc said she wanted to see me every week due to preeclampsia complications and i have only been able to see an MD twice(after a struggle even to get those appt) and i am now almost 40w.
I wish soooooo much i switched practices early on since i have had problems getting appt from the very beginning. Now i am questioning my docs and dont trust them to deliver me but its too late now.

No...it's Comprehensive Ob/Gyn.
This is my only complaint with this office also, but in fairness, I do believe it is the office staff that makes the mistakes and not the Drs fault. I have been very firm when making appointments and would have expected them to at least see you before the Dr. leaves at 6.

I would call and ask to talk to the Office Manager. Maybe the doc is leaving early if he doesn't have afternoon appts and just figures you will resched. Let them know!

Honestly, they either need to accommomdate your late schedule, see you before you even have to get on the train, or they have to see you on Saturdays, or tell you they can't see you as a patient. Its not right to keep cancelling you!!!
