Does this sound like Roseola or an allergic reaction?

I took my ds to the ped's this morning after I noticed a rash on his upper body. It looks like small light reddish dots on his chest, stomach, back and a few on his neck into his hairline. He had a high fever Monday afternoon and he was put on amoxocillian for an ear infection. His fever broke Wednesday afternoon and the rash broke out today (3 days later). The dr. said she didn't think it was roseola but maybe an allergic reaction to the medicine, which we stopped since his ear has cleared up. Today would be day 5 on the med's.

Does the Roseola rash usually occur right after the fever breaks?
What does it sound like?

I'm certainly not an expert but having dealt with both amox. rash and roseola, it sounds like amox. rash to me. Rash for roseola typically comes as soon as fever breaks. Amox rash comes usually a few days (even up to a week sometimes) after DC has started amox.

Thank You
I think you're right. I looked up the amox rash and it what my ds has seems just like it.

it could also just be a heat rash, sweat and overheating from the fever?... just throwing it out there just in case

I am in the exact same boat as you. I took dd to the ped today and they said it doesn't look like roseola. They said it could the the amox (which she stooped on Tuesday after having a very light rash on her back and belly), or just another virus.

My ped said that she didn't think it was roseola since he has been 3-4 days fever free. I looked up the amox rash, pictures and description look like what he has. My ped said it could also be a fever virus also. Did they suggest allergy testing when she is older?

They actually did the allergy testing this week (when she had the first, lighter rash), but the amox results won't be back until Monday. After I saw this post, I looked up pics too and hers is consistent with the amox rash from what I saw. I also read on one site that 3-10% of people have the rash, but not a true allergy to penicillin, so it might not even be an "allergic" rash.
