I think it is detention worthy, not appropriate language.
I'll add, that if my kid brought that note home as the reason why he got detention, he would have a far worse punishment at home waiting for him.

 OH MY, I remember when I was in school a teacher asked this boy if he were ever in Va. he said yeah, 10 inches, that was his girl friends name he got in BIG trouble...

As a teacher, I would have given a lunch detention for something like that. They need to learn the appropriate things to say.
ETA: If it were my child, the punishment at home for speaking so poorly would be worse than the lunch detention. I would also have my child write an apology note to the teacher and/or student it was said to.

What's really offensive is that they specify at the bottom that it is a white student and a yellow teacher.

I'm a middle school teacher and yeah, that does seem detention worthy. Kids need to learn that they can't just say whatever they want whenever they want. Plus, how are we to know that this kid wasn't warned numerous times about inappropriate words/behavior?

definitely, thats really inappropriate for a child....funny for an adult in the APPROPRIATE setting....never for my small child. Id applaud the teacher who sent my DS to detention if he ever spoke that way.
