Re: Does this seem detention worthy?
While I did get a good laugh from reading it I actually do think it is detention worthy.
In a grown up working world saying something like that could get you a sexual harrassment charge so I don't think a one period detention was uncalled for. Kids in middle school (or at any age) shouldn't talk like that, especially in front of a teacher.

Re: Does this seem detention worthy?
I teach middle school and yeah that seems detention worthy. They shouldn't say that.
I also have to add that it was dated in May, that time off year when you've just HAD it and the kids really start to act up

I'm a middle school teacher and yeah, that does seem detention worthy. Kids need to learn that they can't just say whatever they want whenever they want. Plus, how are we to know that this kid wasn't warned numerous times about inappropriate words/behavior?

Re: Does this seem detention worthy?
While we think it's funny and such -- I guess for school age children I can see why that would be detention worthy.

Uh, in my head, no, but in reality, yes! I'd also ask my middle schoolers what that means and make them call their mom to tell them the reason for detention.

sorry, but that made me
If it was an older kid like a junior or senior, I don't think it should be that big of a deal.. If it was a junior high kid, different story

I'm a middle school teacher... and while I do think that's pretty funny, I do think it's detention worthy. It implies something that's inappropriate. I can see a student in my school getting a detention for that.

Completely agree! And it's just a detention, not a suspension or anything.

Re: Does this seem detention worthy?
I've een this one and there are a few others floating around and I do think it's funny...even as a teacher.
However, teachers have to create a safe learning environment - it's totally detention worthy.

Yeah--I'd make horrible teacher. How do you not laugh at that?
Or if your kid brings that note home? I'd be fine with the lunch detention, but
