Re: Does this concern you?
Yes for a few reasons. One, how are the drugs getting into the water. Two, why is it not required to test, and Three, if tested, why is it not reported "until pressed?"
I hate the thought of going back to bottled water, because of the plastic waste, but I am not sure my filters would remove this.

The article answered all of these questions and also cautioned that bottled water is not immune.

I saw that too about the bottled water... Its frustrating because no matter what you do about the water, there's a good chance you could be ingesting some chemicals/meds. I thought bottled water went through a battery of tests, so I was kind of surprised by that.

Despite being deathly allergic to penicillin and related drugs, I'm not going to panic over this article yet. It states there are trace amounts of these drugs and doesn't show any clear causal relationship between the presenced of these trace amounts and actual, documented ill effects (other than the fish reference, which wasn't made clear...) I'm hoping more testing and research is done so we can get some real answers. I think this article identifies a potential problem -- now we need to do some research to see how big of a problem it actually is and what we can do about it. The article stated several times that there are too many unknowns -- Well, time to get in the know!
ETA -- To be clear, it concerns me a great deal. I just want more research and information before I actually panic over it...

Is this the new Universal Health Care plan for everyone? Give everyone in the country every drug?
I agree with Kara, though. I'm not going to panic until I hear more info. I've also heard over the years that every dollar bill you touch has traces of everything imaginable, including cocaine.

Re: Does this concern you?
I am not concerned because I do not use tap water for anything except bathing. Unless the drugs can seep into my skin that way, then I am not bothered. I wonder if the sex hormones give you more orgasms...I might try drinking the tap water to test it out.

According to the article, bottled water isn't necessarily immune.

Oh I know. I am wondering really why this is not being addressed on a legislative level. Especially on LI, where the cancer rate is soaring & they are speculating a possible link to quick-growing breast cancer cells in tests.
The bottled water issue was not really addressed to the point of being able to make a clear decision, and it also did not mention if something as simple as boiling the water might reduce the contaminants in the water.
