Re: Does it bother you
No it doesn't bother me because I know the plans are in the works and I agree with MrsProfessor - it has allowed some time for healing and mourning. It should be interesting to see how we feel when something new is standing in their place. Even if they were to be rebuilt identically, I think it's just going to be such a haunting, sombering feeling when whatever it is that is built, fills that giant void in the NY skyline.

no, it doesn't bother me that they are not re-built yet - i think at first they were all like we have to re-build right away, show we're not afraid, blah, blah, blah.....but then they had the whole "contest" thing...its just kept getting more and more drawn out.
i think we'll see them soon....

Re: Does it bother you
I do feel that NY needs to move on and it's time to put all of their building plans into action. But we are talking about massive structures here that require a lot of planning, investment, etc.
I'm more upset with all the restrictions they're imposing on the would be tenants of the buildings they're putting up. For example, the Drawing Center which has been slated to go into the Freedom Center is being re-reviewed so that the family members of the victims can have a say in what goes on there. In the contract it says that they have to promise they won't ever produce anything that might be offensive to the family members of the victims of 9/11. How can they even measure what might be offensive to someone? It's basically precluding anyone from ever doing anything having to do with 9/11 Not to mention the fact that many people survived the attacks as well - why aren't they being consulted. I've said it before - 9/11 didn't only happen to the people who died.

i guess i just wish they would be back....
I've debated this in my head for a while. I can't decide what I want. But, the sketches that I've seen of the "proposals" are just plain old UGLY....
You are SO right about that . . . .

I agree, not liking the new look. Why change them. I think they should rebuild the way they were, but much stronger to withstand anything.
