Can I ask a question? Does he have a name already? He looks like he's of an age where he might know and respond to his name already. Have you thought about incorporating that into the name you give him? I mean no disrespect by my question as obviously he is your son and you can name him what you want. I was just curious!
My cousin was also adopted from South Korea, but she was only about 6 months old. My aunt and uncle kept her given name as her middle name and called her by both until she adjusted to her new family.

No problem! Ask away  he's 20 months old, so he does have a Korean name that I'm sure he responds to, etc by now. The "babies" are coming here from Korea a lot older now due to changes in laws, etc. it stinks bc we were matched w him almost a year ago 
But yeah we definitely plan on calling him by his Korean name - or both togeher- until he gets adjusted a little but.

Lots of my friends who chose an American name for themselves chose a name that resembled their Asian name.
Are any of those names similar to his name now?

I am completely biased - I love the name Cole. The only downfall is that SO many people think his name is Paul. Apparently they sound alike. Mostly to old women. lol! 
BTW he is SO cute!!!

I read the subject of this post and looked at the pic without reading what the post said and I said Cole. Then I read the post so to me he looks like a Cole! :)

my ds #1 is cole so i'm biased, but i love that name b/c it's a name fit for a small boy who can grow into "CEO"! ;)

ps. we never have a problem with people mispronouncing/misspelling ds's name. people misspell my other son's name (miles) more often

Im in the minority, I thought Reed. I like Reed but Cole is alos nice as well.
ETA: Conratulations, he is a blessing and I wish you the best. You will have your little one before you know. I got my son a almost two years ago and he is such a staple in our lives I forgot what life was without him. I feel like he has been with us since he was born.

HAHA so funny you said that because when I tell old ladies that my boy is named Mason they go..."aw Nathan what a cute name" ALL of them do and I don't have the heart to correct them lol

Love Cole! I agree with the above poster. I would see if he knows his Korean name and somehow try to incorporate that in his name. If he is answering to his Korean name now, it may be difficult for him to start answering to a new name off the bat. Our DD is from China and we used her Chinese name as her middle name.
