Does EVERYONE have to have the glucose test??

I am terrible with "drinks" for tests (cat scan dye, upper GI barium, etc..) and I just KNOW I'll yaack!

Does everyone get it? Or is it only if you show signs of possible GD?

I think everyone has to. That's why i'm dreading it so much. I had to drink something for a cat scan once and I threw it up.

as far as i know, everyone takes it. the drink isn't that bad at all. It taste like really sweet but flat soda.

Everyone has to take the test. And I hate to break it to you, but if you throw it up you have to start over again.

I've heard the orange is the worst but i don't know, mine tasted like coca cola. Not bad AT ALL. I think the colder it is, the better. Mine was really cold and since I was starving and feeling faint I was actually happy to drink something.

Everyone has to take it, but it's not really that bad. It's nothing like barium-yuck! It's just like drinking some Hi-C.

My doctor had me do one already, not sure why, because I'm so early.

But, anyway, the drink they gave me tasted like flat orange soda. It really wasn't that bad.

I got my drink yesturday to bring home and it really does not look like that much to drink.

I've am sure I have drank worse

I'm pretty sure it isn't an optional test.

And, I've heard it isn't that bad.

It is a small bottle. I yack at everything while p/g and I did not yack last time, I had orange. We shall see what happens this time.

It is a small bottle, maybe 10oz? It really isn't that bad, I mean it wouldn't be your first choice, but its not so bad. I don't think you HAVE to do the test, but it is definately in your & baby's best interest to do it. I had the orange one and just chugged it down

it's a 10fl small bottle and there is a mark to drink to. It's not even drink 1/2 of it. So I think you probably drink like 5 ounces if even.

I had the fruit punch one and honestly, it was not even that sweet, it tasted like juice and it was nice and cold....not bad at all, I actually liked it

I drank mine this a.m. and it wasn't bad at all - orange-soda-ish.

I dont know anyone who didnt take it. I have heard of people who had GD with #1 not taking it and just proceeding as if they have GD with #2 as well, but I think all first timers take the test!

ETA: To me the drink was like a sweeter Hi-C

I had the orange...tasted like McDonalds orange drink from when I was a kid...mine was nice and cold when i had it so that was nice

As far as I know it isn't optional. I was still at the point where I was feeling nauseous a lot of the time and I didn't have a problem drinking it. I drank it really fast and it tasted just orangy.

Everyone has to do it.... they do it before you really have signs of GD....

Yep, we all have to do it. Mine was lemon-lime flavored. I drank it very cold. I chugged it as fast as I could. I gagged one or twice, but didn't want to throw up b/c then I'd just have to do it again.

Nope, everyone has to get it! Even if its your 2nd or 3rd child, you have to do it again. Annoying!!!

Everyone has to take it between 24-28 week window. It's just a flat soda type drink.
