I'm going for my 1 hour Glucose test tomorrow...questions for the ladies who have done this already. UPDATE 7/16/07 GOT CALL FROM DOCTOR...

I think I'm getting narotic about it because yesterday I watched my carb intake (hardly any) and sugar intake. Today I want to do the same. So far I ate egg whites and turkey for breakfast. I'm not sure if I should eat an apple I brought in.

Did you alter your food intake before the test? What did you eat and did you pass?

I I PASSED THE 1 HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



They said my iron is low and that I need to start taking a supplement 2x a day with a glass of orange juice.

i did not alter my food the days prior. I filed the one hour. I had read that it doesn't really matter if you alter your food right before and that if you do have glucose intolerance you want to know about it - not hide it and leave it untreated

I had a candy bar 2 hrs before my test because I wanted it
took the test and was fine

I just did mine this morning. I always watch my sugar/calories but I made sure I didn't eat as much fruit as I normally do yesterday. and I didn't eat this morning (my test was at 8:30)

Just so you know, the orange drink isn't bad at all. They took me right away, drew four tubes, saw the doc and I was on my way! Don't worry, it will go well!

I was told too fast too and not have anything (just water) the morning of. That's a good idea I'll bring a cup of ice with me.

I called Quest Diagnostics and they said I couldn't have the drink before hand. I have to get there by 7am that's what time they open and get out by 8:30 I hope.

i just watched what i ate the day b4 and fasted from 7 or 8 on.. remember your body DOES need sugar so have that apple i am sure its fine

I tried to watch carbs/sugars the few days prior to my test. Apples are fine...actually, apples have a natural sugar that diabetics are told to eat them(my Aunt is a diabetic and she said I could eat it). My test was first thing in the morning, so I didn't eat after 8 pm the night before and nothing before the drink the day of. Afterward, i went to McD's for bfast!!! I was famished!!! I passed no problem.

Passing and failing doesn't have anything to do with what you eat the night before or even that day. Your body processes sugars the same way, and you want it to be properly diagnosed and treated if and only if you have it. Good luck! HOPE YOU PASS. Just do what you normally do. Don't have to overdo it, but cutting out certain foods isn't going to help, nor to they suggest you do that. I just had my 3 hour today, HOPE I PASSED!!!

I watched my sugar all day the day before except for a jello pudding cup and 2 hershey kisses at 8pm ...my test was the next morn. at 7am, didn't eat anything before, and I failed BAD.

I don't think it had anything to do w/the pudding or chocolate though...I think I just failed!! I know when I have too much sugar at once, on a normal day, I don't feel well so I think its just my body.

My drink was cold, and wasn't bad at all. Its 50 grams of sugar which is equivalent to 16oz of coca cola! The drink is less oz's (i forget how much less) so thats why its so sweet.

your blood sugar level may be affected by food you eat immediately prior to the test - like within a couple hours - but not by food you eat many hours or days before. so i would limit any high-sugar foods or drinks in the few hours before you take the test, to prevent a false positive.

All I was told before was not to eat too much sugar that day - my test wasn't until 4pm...so I had to wait the entire day to take it. I passed.

I ate a slice of pizza 2 hours before mine. I wasn't told to fast or anything. I also passed, so I was glad the pizza didn't ruin me!

I can't sleep. Not because of the test or anything I just can't seem to get a full nights sleep. I was up at 3:00 in the morning. I had to go pee and then that was it. I'm wide awake, not to mention STARVING

I really want to eat some cereal right now. I swear after this test I'm having a snickers bar for breakfast.

i did alter the way i ate and i still failed...i also found out that i barely passed the 3 hour.

my doctor specifically told me not to fast (my test is 9:45 in the morning). I was told to eat either a bagel or toast for breakfast, just no jam or jelly.

Alright I took it this morning

I was surprised by the amount I had to drink. The bottle was so small and it was nice and cold. I gulped it down in about 5 minutes. It wasn't that bad at all.

Now its' the waiting game. If there was an Emote-Icon biting its teeth I would use it right here. I'll update this thread with the outcome.
