Yeah, generally I don't either, but this is the first email I ever got from the state as a warning, which is odd.

i just got that email too (from school though- i dont work for the state). It doesn't really pertain to me since classes aren't in session, but i also thought it was confusing and didn't really seem to make a point. Chat Icon

I know! It's saying don't travel unless it's an emergency, but it's not telling me to stay home from work...Very strange...

Re: Does anyone work for the state?

I've checked the weather online a few times throughout the day and it doesn't seem like there's going to be that much accumlation.

I don't put a lot of stock into this stuff, because they are often wrong! (At least the last couple of storms this season they were!!).

I am supposed to start my new job in the morning and it's only 15 minutes away by LIRR so unless it's an emergency dangerous situation and the LIRR is not running, I will go in.

My husband also has an F250 truck with 4-wheel drive so he'd probably try to drive me from Long Beach to Lynbrook if need be.

Re: Does anyone work for the state?

It's from the NYS Office of Emergency Operations (OEM). It's a standard email they send out whenever there is a weather or other advisory. It doesn't necessarily mean you are being told to stay home...but it would be nice, wouldn't it? LOL.

Definitely would be nice! I just thought it was strange because I never received one before. Unless this is linked to the emergency announcements they are sending out on campuses after the St. John's shooting.. Chat Icon

I work for the state and I didn't get that warning. Was it sent to your work email or private email?

Re: Does anyone work for the state?

Ok, I just my work email and I have 3 messages from them as well.

I'm calling the HSC hotline tomorrow morning and if they say the schools are delayed/closed, I'm not moving my butt from this house.

I had 3 too! Chat Icon I'm thinking they won't delay since it's only intersession...Can't decide if I feel like setting my alarm...Chat Icon
