Does anyone have a talking smoke detector?

A few months ago our smoke detectors freaked and went off in the middle of the night.. and all three of my kids never even flinched.. slept through the whole thing and there is one in each room and they are LOUD!

So for piece of mind I want to get one of those smoke detectors that you can record your voice on.. I think maybe they have a better chance of waking up if they hear me YELLING at them

I'm just wondering how loud it really is? If its worth it.

There was just a story on the news about these. They showed kids that slept through beeping fire alarms for 12 minutes, and when they heard their parents voice got up in seconds. I thought they said they wouldn't be out on the market until the spring? I definitely want to get one of these when DDs are in beds.

Yes, we just bought one! I wake up immediately with the littlest noise, but DH & DS sleep through everything.
