Does anyone else not have a mother?
I lost my mom to Cervical Cancer in July and throughout the pregnancy so far it has been really hard. We were really close, she was my best friend. My DH and I cared for her until her dying day and I found out I was PG exactly one month after she passed. Now that the holidays are coming, I am starting to really feel it and miss her so much. Just wondering if anyone else lost their mother and is going through this PG without her.
Sorry such a sad topic...

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
ME! I lost my mom a bit over 4 years ago - a few months before I got married. During my pregnancy I tried not to think about her absence but it was very hard. The hardest day for me is when my babies came home. In the middle of the night I often wish I had her advice or reassurance. You just have to believe she's with you always - I do. There are more moms on the parenting board who are in the same situation. You're not alone. FM anytime!

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
I don't. My mom died 10 days after I was married. It will be 4 years Nov 26th.
It was so hard to have my son without her. And now again I miss her terribly. I always wish I could call and talk to her about what is going on with this pregnancy and my son.
Hugs to you. The holidays are the hardest.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
I dont have either parent... I lost my mom 4 and a half years ago to Lung Cancer and my dad six months after that. It is definitely hard being preggo without her advice and support. I just try as best I can to focus on the good things!!

I feel your pain! My dad passed away lst Nov in front of me of a heart attack. To think only 3 more months (feb) and I would have been preggo. Besides that...he died Nov 27 and the baby is due dec 1st...same week. eeeeerieee huh??? Its hard but you will get through it.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
I lost my dad 2 years ago Dec. of asbestos cancer & I am finding it very hard to imagine having a grandchild that he will never know. He was a devoted grandfather to my nieces & nephews and for me, he was a source of advice and knowledge. I miss him terribly and it seems to be more intense since I am pregnant.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
Do you have a close Aunt or are you close with your MIL or a sister or SIL? Maybe they can help you through this difficult time. Maybe one of them can go baby clothes or maternity clothes shopping with you.
I lost my Nanny a few years ago and I miss her every single day. Her sister is still alive so I send photos of Molly to her as a way of feeling connected to my Nanny. It is NOT the same, of course but it does help.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
You should go onto the motherless forum as well - I can relate in some way - I have a stepmom who although she has been in my life since I was 9, I'm not too close with, and actually have to be pretty gaurded about what I say with her. I do still have my biological mom, however we havent spoken in years - she is mentally ill, and has been very difficult for most of my life....
so not only do I feel I dont have a mom now, I feel I have never had a mom. I'm going to have to figure out this mothering thing all on my own!!!!

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
My mom died when I was eight and yes, it's times like these that I miss her terribly.
I was sick today with some sort of stomache virus and kept thinking... if she was only here, she'd know what I should do, she'd know if the babies are ok
Thank God I have an absolutely wonderful MIL and FIL. My in-laws only live 2 miles away and my DH is in Boston for the entire week I called them and FIL brought me ginger ale, crackers and broth. They are the best.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
I just wanted to thank all of you for your care and concern. In response to some of your questions, I do have an Aunt that I am VERY close with and also my MIL is AMAZING and she lives downstairs from us, so I am lucky that way. But for those of you that HAVE lost your mom, you know it doesn't compare.
For those of you that also have gone through losses, I am very sorry and thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Re: Does anyone else not have a mother?
As you all know, my mom passed away in March (I was 4 months pregrant). I was so glad that I was able to tell her that I was pregoo. When DS was born, I cried because my mom was not here and almost everyday I cry and think about everything that she has been missing.

That is how I feel now. She passed away and I got PG 2 weeks later! If only she would have known! Now everytime something happens I get upset and I cry every day just missing her and wishing she was here to share this experience with me. This year is going to be so hard around this time...holiday season.
