I had one for years, bought it used, loved it. Very reliable. Good on gas. Not super comfy for long rides, but that might have just been me (and me pretty preggo the last time I was in it).

We've had one for about ten years. Love it. It's awesome in ****** weather. We've taken long road trips in it. It's not nearly as roomy inside as other sedans but the fact that it kicks major ass in snow and rain outweighs that for us. DH and I are small people though - 5'3 and 5'4 so that may play a part in how we feel.

Very true on all points! It kicked butt upstate in the snow and ice (and down here). And my 6'3" brother hated sitting in it lol.

they've gotten a lot bigger. Not that they're huge inside, but definitely roomy enough (for a small-med car)
I recently bought a 2016 Subaru WRX STi which is based off of a Subaru Impreza and its pretty roomy. I'm 6'2" and fit just fine. My wife can sit in front of my son 4 (with booster) and they have enough room to be comfortable. Trunk is decent.
I had a Subaru Forester loaner for a short period of time and that was even more roomy, though wasn't too impressed with the leather, probably would've done cloth if it were my car.

Good to know! Great that they are making them more roomy.

Anyone have a car seat in the Impreza? We just got an Outback for our main family car. I commute to work in Queens and would love something smaller (for parking and fuel efficiency). It would mainly be for picking up DS from daycare.

How do you like the outback? We're currently looking at subarus, specifically the outback, xv crossteck, and legacy.

Love the Outback. We bought it instead of leasing, which is what we usually do. Very spacious interior, love the ride so far. It feels like a more expensive car. We waited a long time to get it. They are in short supply still I think. We also have a CR-V that is leased. To be honest I think the CR-V has more storage space, but the Outback is a bigger vehicle and has more room for passengers, and it is longer so I think it appears to have more cargo capacity (but it may not in reality). I drove an Accord prior to the Outback and it is much better. I thought nothing in that price range or size could beat the Outback in interior space. I think it's a great family car.
My mom has the legacy. Its nice, smaller than the Accord for a sedan. Depends on what you want in terms of cargo space. My friends just got one and love it. It just didn't fit our needs this time around.
I may check out the Crossteck when the CR-V lease is up because I'd love something smaller for commuting and parking on the street in Queens. It looks great but not ton of space. I think I read it is basically the Impreza just jacked up a little higher. It's very popular though. I see them all the time. When we picked up our Outback all of people were buy the Crossteck.
