Re: Do you wake a sleeping baby?

I know I am in the minority, but I always woke m kids during the day. Depending on their age I would wake them at the 3-4hr mark. At night I let them sleep til they woke up.

DD would sleep 6+ hours during the day if we didn't wake her up. So, I never let her go past four hours during the day. At night I let her go for as long as she wanted.

Ditto.
You don't want the baby up more at night...wake during the day for feedings definitely IMO! Worked for us....baby slept thru the night at 8 weeks old!

Okay, I'm going to ruffle some feathers - but I wonder

those who say "they never wake a sleeping baby" I wonder if they are the same moms with babies who do not STTN at 4,5,6,7 ... months

I always waked during the day, and at night I went with cues. We were on schedule at 3m, DS was sleeping 10 hours at night.

eta: up until 4 weeks I was letting baby sleep whenever, after that, I started to wake every 3 hours

Agree with this 100%!!!
Could have written this exact post.
Honestly anyone I know who doesn't wake baby during day for feedings have babies who are not STTN at 9 mos old. It's honestly a no brainer to me....sorry to ruffle feathers.

Never. Ever. Ever.
Under any circumstance.
Unless the house is on fire, I will let that child sleep.

even then i'd try to carry DS out still asleep!

my DS started to STTN at 5.5 months and I never ever ever woke him up during the day. Even from 3-5.5 months he would go down to bed at 7pm wake up at 2 for a body and go right back to sleep until 7-8am.
