We have a Hanukkah themed tree. We celebrate both xmas and Hanukkah so we incorporated Hanukkah into the tree. We have blue and silver garland and some dreidals on it in addition to the balls and ornaments.

No, total mish mosh with ornaments that were my mom's from when she was young, to some from my childhood, ornaments from students, handmade ones, etc, and I love it that way!

One year when i lived by myself and had no money. i somehow got a tree into my basement apartment. went to the dollar store and bought red bows. took some hand me down lights from a friends parents.

had a party of beer and mashed potatos (fake ones)

and we put a giant red ribbon on the top and little ones throughout. it was probably one of the prettiest trees i ever had.

and, it made some lasting memories. we were all sick from the mashed potatos!

now, i try to theme with the same color balls, but with the kids, they take down teh balls and rehang them on other branches so my tree always looks pretty ridiculous.

Nope! our tree is a mish mosh, we collect different ornaments each year, esp hallmark ornaments. I want a tree that my Kids will look at and love the ornaments and recognize characters. I think a themed tree would be too boring for the kids
