Do you return/exchange clothing..
you received as gifts? Even from close family? I received some things that I just don't like and probably wont ever put my babies in since they have a TON of clothing. Other stuff is off season with sizing. People oddly think my babies will become tubbas all of a sudden although they are still tiny peanuts and will probably be in 3 mo size until 5/6 mo at this rate. (They will be 4 mo in 2 weeks and 3 mo is still baggy on them).
I don't want to look ungratefull but wouldn't they want the girls to have stuff they can wear?

I would have no problem returning something if I couldn't use it. Better to exchange it for something useful, than have the gift sit in their closet!

I didn't but now I wish I did because DD quickly grew out of everything she received as a gift. We also got a lot that was off season. She got a lot of summery stuff that she can't wear in the winter, I guess because my shower was in August so no one was thinking about winter.

Yes, I absolutely return/exchange things if I know DD won't wear it.
The one exception I make is if the clothes fit seasonally and I am seeing whoever purchased the outfit soon/when it will fit, then I will put it on DD when we see that person, even if I don't like the style very much.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
Like I got a 6/12 mo outfit with polar bears. that went back. The probably wont fit in it til May/June. I just dont want people getting offended. Im thinking of exchanging another similar outfit but its not polar bears. It is long sleeves though so thats an excuse, right? lol

Yes - I received a ton of 3-6 month summer hand me downs for DS 2 and a bunch of gifts in that size so I returned them and got him fall clothes later on since I had more than I could even think of using.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
i did. I actually sat down when she was born with everything we got and put them in piles according to size. Then I went through each pile and figured what I liked, and would be the right season. Everything else I returned/exchanged, depending on season and if I had a receipt.
I am proud to say I basically had her whole first year of clothing bought for us b/c of the way I did it. I had 3 outfits that had tags left one them, and I tried to get everything on her at least once.
I feel like so many people wish they returned stuff and had so much unused stuff.
Nobody ever noticed or at least didn't say anything to me. There is only so much stuff you can have in one size

THIS that's why they give dift receipts. I have returned so much cause its out of season or too small. Id rather have something she can wear. Don't feel bad.

Yes I return things I don't like or won't fit. Why should I keeP something they will never wear? I don't think people would be offended. I don't think they even have to know.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
I would return for sure. I did because I got too many of certain things (a million 3 month sleepers, for example) and not enough of others.
I'm saving up a bunch of store credits so I can purchase outfits over time when I see for sure what size/season it is.
Even a close family member likely isn't around the baby every day, so it's not like they will neccesarily know you returned it.
I also exchanged quite a few things for different sizes - I was gifted a lot of newborn which I knew would last such a short time, I changed for 3 or 6 month size so she could wear it longer.
Another option is re-gifting, if it is a nice, unused item and you have any friends that are expecting soon and could use it?

I have no problem exchanging gifts. I would rather get something we could use rather then just hold onto something because I feel bad. I feel like that's a waste of their money. I never say anything about the exchange though.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
In hindsight, I wish I was more aggressive with returning stuff - clothes and toys alike.
Now I'm faced with a pile of stuff that he never wore or played with - and I wish I had returned it all along the way. Instead, I try to pawn the stuff off on other mothers I know who may be able to make use of the stuff. It's actually a burden to try to find something to do with all this stuff (aside from blindly donating it all).

Absolutely, esp when they were babies.
We now don't get many clothing gifts but if we do, we just keep it. It is not worth the hassle of returning.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
I returned almost everything that we didn't like and didn't think that we would dress DD in. There were a few outfits that we never got around to returning, and now that she is moving up to the next size, she never wore those outfits. I'd much rather buy her things that are my taste, and that I will actually put her in. Most of the people who gave us outfits that I don't like don't see DD much anyhow.

Re: Do you return/exchange clothing..
I absolutely return or exchange when I can. If not the clothes will just sit there and not get worn. And usually it's not about I not like the style it's so much more often wrong size/wrong season. The problem is half the time I don't know where it came from, no gift receipts, store nowhere near me

LOL mine assume that just b/c DH was big they will be too. Well, at their 3 mo well visit both were STILL less than him at birth!! I was over 8 lbs but evened out and was a small baby- on par with clothing sizes. People got us size 6 mo blanket sleepers. They were 5lbs at birth! They aren't going to be in 6 mo (14 plus lbs) until after April at least. I also got some stuff that was bigger sizes of stuff I had in nb size. Eventhough I liked it then, I think its too babyish for 6 mo. I like them in cute clothes.
