Went to Brands in Wantagh.
Both DH and I have Trek mountain bikes from there.... Now if only we could dust them off and put them to use!

I got my Trek that I use for a tris and duathlons at Carl's in Middle Island. The sales people are great and answer all your questions without rolling their eyes. I know they have everything from beach riders to $3000.00 tri bikes there.

Yes - we got them at Sports Authority.
We have hybrid bikes - 1/2 mountain bike, 1/2 cruiser. Iron Horse makes them and we spent about $600 on both of them together.
We aren't hardcore mountain bikers so the hybrid was perfect for us. We wanted something we could cruise in and still take on trails.
We LOVE them and I'm sad I can't really ride this spring. 
The seats and handlebars are really comfortable.
Our favorite place to ride is Corona park.
We bring lunch and picnic there too.

Yes! Love my bike!! It's a Giant Sedona, I got it back in 2001 and I still use it every summer. I got it at Mineola Bicycle on Jericho Tpke.
The only thing I recommend is buying one of those super cushy comfort seats. Your asss will appreciate it!

I have a Trek bike that I bought in college. I love it but it's at my IL's house until we have room for it.
It's a super light mountain bike. I can carry it over my head comfortably. I needed a light bike to haul up and down my apartment stairs.

Yes, I got mine, Schwinn, from Target. DH has a really good one. I'm not sure where he got it.

I got a Gary Fisher bike. I bought it from Sayville bike works. It's awesome for both trails and street, you just deflate a little for trails.

Tha' why I don't have one. I awas usign MIL's, and kept it inher garage, but i ahted havign to go there everytiem we wanted to go out, b/c it was rude to jsut ge the bikes & say see ya, so we'd end up staying for lunch after, and it would be a whole big thing.
Our co-op has bike storage, but last time I checked it was pretty full. I still want to get one, I'm just working on where to put it.

Yes, a Cannondale mountain bike I used to mountain bike.
I got it at the bicycle planet in Syossett for 1K.
But if you're just looking to ride in the streets I suggest something like a touring bike. I used one for a ride DH and I did from Setauket to Montauk Point and it was drastically different from riding a mountain bike. You go MUCH fast with MUCH more ease.
