if i didnt the world would be over! LOL i let him watch about an hour in the morning and half hour- hour at night. (weekends). i think he helps his language and understanding. he'll use what he saw on tv in real life.

ETA he only watches Yo Gabba Gabba and Mickey's Clubhouse

Yes ds watches tv. Only nick jr or Disney jr . Now he is three and watches a lot more then he did at 2. He asks for certain shows or movies now that he is older

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

Yes

She doesn't watch too much, but that's mostly because she is usually busy doing something else.

I put it on when I need to get something done without interuption.

I have no opinion really as to kids watching TV. Honestly, I don't see the harm in it.

Rainy days/snowy days, etc......the TV is on all day.

My 13 month old also watches TV.

The only things they watch though (because it's what they like), are shows like Yo Gabba Gabba, FBB, Sesame Street, Wiggles and once in a blue moon, DD wants to watch Dora.

We also have DVDs. There are days, DD wants to watch her Laurie Berkner DVD over and over and over and over.

oh, and the TV is on during dinner time too (the playroom is connected to my kitchen), because DS is hard to feed and the TV distracts him so that I can get food in his mouth.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

DS is 22months. he watches: 1/2 hour in the morning and at night..depends..

If we go to the park after daycre we dont get home until 6:00 so he'll actively watch about an hour.

rainy days or weekends. it on while we do activities or hell watch more..

I watched a lot more than DS and im ok..Chat Icon ( hate that argument sometimes ) but he's verbal and interacts with the shows..dances with them..sings with them... stuff like that

eta: DS is in daycare from 7:30-4:30

Yep. If we are home, the tv is on. He sings with the songs, make the sounds they do and has learned a lot. Im very relaxed about tv. I cant possibly entertain him 24 hours a day. Its on now and he is playing dinosaurs. He comes and checks it, screams at it and goes back to do his thing.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

At 2, Yes, about 2hrs. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Disney Movies, Upside Down Show, Dr Seuss – The cat in the hat knows a lot about that, Wiggles, Pre School Prep DVDs.

I have no problem with her watching TV. She’s allowed to watch it, but knows we can and will turn it off. We do other things with the TV only being the background noise. Days we just don’t turn the TV on at all.

I see no harm in TV. She goes to school everyday for 11hrs. I think she deserves a break to wind down.

At 3, she asks for certain shows and we make them contingent on things. Clean up your room and eat your dinner and you can have Mickey. Not always but I’m trying to instill that TV is not a right but a privilege.

Yes, my 2yo watches TV. The TV is always on in our house. I prefer NickJr and Disney Jr because there are no commercials.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

Not happy about it but DD watches alot of tv when we are home. She plays while watching but sometimes, just sits and watches. She has definitely learned alot from the shows. Give the choice I would prefer much much less tv but its hard when you have to get things done.Chat Icon

This.

He doesnt always watch even if its on. If its something he finds interesting then he'll come check it out. If not, he plays with his toys instead. He only watches Nick Jr and Disney Jr. He's not allowed to watch brainless TV. Hes learned soooo much from these 2 channels!!!!

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

Mine are 22 months. They usually watch about an hour a day. One Chuggington episode (which my one DS asks for all day and my other DS ignores, of course), and they both love Elmo so I FF through Sesame Street until Elmo's world. Other than that they really just aren't interested.

ETA my feelings on TV - ehhh, I'm pretty laid back. When I start to see DS1 get sort of mesmerized/zoned out, I'll try to snap him out of it. DS2 has zero attention span and I wish he'd watch more LOL. At this age it doesn't bother me as much as an older kid choosing to watch TV instead of playing outside or something, KWIM?

Yepp. I find that a lot of the shows he watches are very educational and help with his language and cognitive development, so I actually think it's a good thing (in moderation). It also gives me a chance to get things done around the house with no interuptions.

He watches about 1 hour on week days (after dinner) and on the weekends about a 1/2 hour in the morning and another hour after dinner.

He mostly watches Caillou, Thomas, Barney, and the one with the turtle (forget what it's called).

The only show he's not allowed to watch is Spongebob.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

Sure, so cute now at age 2 to see her interacting with shows like Dora (repeating words, doing hand motions, etc).

She watches about 15-30 mins at night (she's in daycare) and on the weekends maybe an hour or 2 a day.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

The TV is on all the time in my house. Sometimes my kids sit down and watch it, but most times they are playing with their toys and stuff and not paying attention.

They watch less than a half hour on weekday mornings and maybe an hour or so at night.

Weekends it's on most of the day but we are usually in and out so maybe they watch about 2 hours tops.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

yup..The TV is always on...and we go back and forth between my shows/news/etc to their shows...they sometimes sit to watch a show or a DVD movie...and sometimes it is just on in the background..I dont count the # of hours...

But when they do watch TV it is usually only Disney Jr and Nick Jr.

this but my DD is only 15 mos.
I honestly feel she learns a lot from it...at 15 mos she can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Mary had a Little Lamb and knows part of the alphabet.

Re: Do you let your 2yr old watch tv?

My DS is 15 months and he watches TV. The only thing he is really into is Yo Gabba Gabba. He will physically pick up the remote and point it to the TV until we put it on for him.

He watches it in the mornings when we're getting ready for work and/or he's having his milk. He'll watch it at night sometimes too before bed.
