Do you have the same town people complaining?

I can't stand to go on the town FB page anymore.
It's not the town directly, but a local started it and first was good to get some good recommendations or share stores, news stuff or anything local.
Now all they do is complain! You ask for a recommendation and people get nasty! They either say it was asked already or fights start.

We have the same group of older, grumpy men complaining about the BoE and how the kids should DEAL with the problems and their taxes, etc.
Any issues and we're all "snowflakes" or it's the "snowflakes" problems.
Now it's all about how they closed the schools today and kids should just go.

Ok... sorry for the vent. I hardly do, but this social media is getting out of hand. People have way too much time on their hand.

We have so many fb groups for my town. You need to find out if there are other ones. We have a moms group, a moms group lite, a dad group, and then each school has a group. We also have a variety of political groups for the town.

We have lots of sites, too and people complain on every single one. They created one to complain on called "Oceansiders Complain Here"

I have one guy on a town board who just posts inappropriate comments and/or memes for everything. Nothing else of value. Drives me insane. Like if someone asks what is going on near x,y/z, he will post a meme of aliens landing or a car driving off a cliff. You have nothing to add, just keep scrolling.

I have more than one person who posts EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING about their life.
From the time they get up , until the time they go to bed. They feel everyone needs to know their daily, mundane, day to day routine.
Then it gets personal- and I mean PERSONAL- "At the doctor, I'm concerned about this rectal bleeding. Hope it's just a hemorrhoid!"
"At the gyno, I hope they can give me something for this severe vaginal itch!"



The other night a woman down the block posted something about her colon.

Is nothing personal anymore? Is nothing private?

Ugh I cant deal with these pages either, but I follow anyway just in case there is anything really important that actually comes up I should know about...

I also following my kids school FB page...a lot of the information is helpful...BUT just the other day there was drama because the school won't allow the kids to bring in candy, treats or trinkets for Valentines day, only cards. You should see the response from some of the parents...they are going to call the superintendent...this is ridiculous, my daughter is devastated that she cant bring in the erasers she bought for everyone in her class...one parent even said they need to revolt...

Like are you serious???? You have nothing else better to do than call the superintendent because your kids can't bring "crap" to school?

Honestly any small crap your kid brings my kid to school is going right in my garbage can anyway...why dont you teach your kids life isnt about "things" and just thoughtful notes for their classmates on valentines day should be plenty.

I cant with these people. I am appalled at what society is coming to...

YUP same thing happens on our page. Sometimes some of the threads go 150 comments long and the real drama breaks out. Around July 4th people loveeee to complain about the fireworks. People get slammed for asking normal questions, while others debate what the best pizza and chinese food are over and over again...
Then there is "why a helicopter is out?". "Did you lose power?"
I think many of the people who go in and post meme's and other stuff that doesnt relate are just trolling because they know someone will bite and start an argument.
I really cant stand when someone slams a small business. Dont we have enough empty store front on LI???? Same story different day. Once in a while you get a good review on something or tip. But im gonna be honest -- i mostly follow for the drama lol!!

Edited to add: Another complaint that always gets me is "how the neighborhood has changed" from all the older generation or those who no longer even live here anymore!!! Of course it has changed, doesnt everything. The min we hear about cars being rifled through for loose change, or a kid riding their bike in the middle of the street, or someone tagging up the mailbox with graffiti they go off to the races. I feel like saying THIS IS EVERY SINGLE NEIGHBORHOOD. RELAX!

The helicopter question is legitimate, IMO. I've seen posts like that, and someone with some inside info says that there is a manhunt for someone in the area. The next day, the news confirms that. If there is a criminal running around the neighborhood, I'll be more cautious.

I don't know what bugs me more- the mundane or the personal. I have a co-worker who treats FB like her journal. "Woke up at 6 this morning, fed my cats and went food shopping. Now I'm home watching _______ and making lasagna." I *literally* could not care less about any of those things.
