Do you have an EZ Pass?

How often do you use it?

Is it necessary if you travel and use the bridges just a few times a year? I am thinking it's good just to save aggrivation, but don't know too much about it.

We have one. We don't travel A Lot but it is so worth it when we do!!!!

E-ZPass to be sold at 7-Eleven, gas stations

Drivers will be able to buy E-ZPass tags at gas stations or 7-Eleven stores next year as part of an MTA plan to expand the popular program, the agency announced Wednesday.

The passes can be purchased for $30 through the E-ZPass-on-the-Go program, which includes $20 that goes toward tolls and a $10 deposit fee. The MTA will refund the deposit once a driver registers with the E-ZPass program using a credit card or checking account within 48 hours.

The MTA Bridges and Tunnels division wants more drivers to use E-ZPass to lessen congestions at tolls. New customers will also benefit from the discount E-ZPass offers, said Joyce Mulvaney, a division spokeswoman.




More than 73 percent of vehicles that cross tolls at MTA bridges and tunnels already use E-ZPass. The MTA is trying to entice people who may not have applied because they aren't Internet savvy or other reasons.

I was a little confused by the page. Does it cost $25 plus however much you want to put into it for tolls?

we have it .. but live in nj.. so there's tolls on our parkways and turnpike....
its a lifesaver though makes things go so quick ... we had it on LI too makes traveling easier

I have seen huge backups at the cash lanes at times when the EZ pass lane had no line at all. I haven't been across the bridges and tunnels in a while b/c I hardly travelled when I was pregnant, so I do not know whether this still happens. Anyway, that makes EZ pass worthwhile even though I do not use it all the time.

no i just grab my dads whenever we have to drive into the city or take one of the bridges.

we have it... we only use it every few months when we visit my family upstate, but it is so worth it! hate lines at the tolls plus you can pay for the thruway as well...

yes. we rarely use it, but are SO thankful when we do!

Yup - couldn't live without one. I am always driving back and forth to LI (at least once a month) and it saves me an unbelievable amount of time on the NYS Thruway & bridges!

I've had it for years and I'm not a city commuter. It's so worth it, even if you only use it a couple of times a year. Really, I don't know why everyone on LI doesn't have one.

You get up to 4 tags per account.

I have one just to keep in my car. Neither DH or I need to travel over a bridge for work, so we just have it when we travel for pleasure. Doesn't cost you anything to have, and the tolls are discounted (you pay less than if you had to pay cash at the toll). The convenience is well worth it.

We have two ... business and personal. My husband does about $25 - $35 a day on the business. The personal is used maybe once a month. It's well worth it just for the convenience of not waiting at the toll booth. Sometimes the lines are so backed up ...........

I first got mine when I was traveling between LI and upstate NY for college. It made a HUGE diffence in my travel time. These days, living in NYC, I don't travel as much and don't even have a car, but I still have my EZ Pass. When DH and I do travel outside of NYC, it still makes a big time difference for us. It makes it worth the $12 yearly fee.

I have it....& whether or not there is a Fee (my mom still pays for my easy pass) It is WORTH IT.

Esp. not sitting in the traffic for the Tolls

I have it, and only use it a few times a year when I go to Atlantic City, or maybe a Jet game...Totally worth it!

We have it. We don't travel often, but, when we do, it's great driving past the stopped dead cash lines...
Totally worth it.

We have it for both vehicles and use for it for tolls and parking at airports quite often.

I can't imagine not having it.

ETA: it's used for tolls multiple times a week and used at airport parking weekly.

We have one too..my parents live in Manhattan, plus up until last May we lived on Staten Island.

We still use DH's SI address so (for now) we get the Verrazzano Bridge for $4.75, that alone makes it worth it since SMIL still lives there

Hey there..we have one, don't use it all the time, but it doesn't cost anything unless you use it and it DOES save frustration...
