Do you feed your babies with the same method you were fed as a baby?

I am curious to see if there is any connection between how we were fed as babies and how we feed our babies.

My mom, grandmother and aunt couldn't believe I wanted to BF and that I did it for so long. They kept saying, "it will be easier on you if you just use formula". My mom was slightly more supportive, but when I had bad days where I wanted to quit, she wouldn't encourage me to keep at it.

I was FF fed and EBF both kids.

I was FF, and I FF my daughter (although I originally planned on BFing)

I was BF to start but had a dairy allergy & horrible reflux (projectile vomiting) so my mom switched to goat's milk. My mom did BF my brother for 15 months, and that made a lasting impression on me (I was 11 when he was born).

I BF DS who also had (has) a dairy allergy & bad reflux, but I continued to BF and went on an elimination diet.

I was FF and i BF DD. My mom was not supportive of BF and didn't understand why it was so important to me.

Oddly, my mom BF my brothers (I am the middle child).

I was formula fed and my mother cannot understand why I do it. She told me that when she had me that it was considered dirty. Im not sure how my grandmother fed or was fed but where the dirty part came I just dont understand. It makes my mother so uncomfortable when I feed her that she always finds some other place to look or do something. I cant understand that some one who birthed me cannot look at a boob, my boob. She keeps saying when the baby eats "wouldnt it be better to just give her a bottle?" Shes not a huge supporter.

I was bf for 3 months and then moms supply ran low. Then she used both.

Ive been BFing for 10 weeks and hope to continue as long as possible

I was FF. My mom had an infection when I was 3 weeks old and could not nurse me while on meds. I BF my son for 4.5 months, I would have gone longer but I returned to work and my body didn't respond well to the pump and my supply tanked.

Nope. I was formula fed and I breasfed all three of my kids.
I was born back in the heyday of formula. My mom said only one person she knew breastfed and everyone thought she was weird.
My parents weren't really all that supportive of my wish to breastfeed, especially because I was having twins. Pretty much no one was supportive, come to think of it. My parents, my IL's - no one thought I would be able to do it.

Yes I was combo BF and FF....and I BF/FF my DD

I was FF. My mom delivered in an affluent neighborhood in NYC (in the 1970's) and I don't think anyone even discussed BF'ing with her as an option. It just wasn't done. So in that way I kind of feel like she didn't have a choice, but I did. I chose to BF.

I was BF and I BF my child. My mom has been very supportive and a huge help to me. When she BF me, it was not a popular thing to do but she used LLL and local support groups to get her through it. I had to go back into the hospital for jaundice and they told her she could not give me BM while in NICU. She decided to pump to keep up her supply so she could BF me when I was back home.

I was FF from day 1 and I FF from day 1.

I was BF for a month or two my Mom tells me.....she couldn't believe I planned to BF DS beyond that time.

She is SO proud of me and has been really helpful and supportive.

I was bf for almost a year and I ff both of my girls after trying to bf both. I had supply issues and both girls were losing weight so we switched to ff.

My mom BF both me and my brother back in the 1970's, and she was one of the few that did. People thought she was strange, it wasn't trendy like it is now.

I FF my first DS and and only BF my second for a month. Even though my Mom nursed her kids- she encouraged me to bottle feed instead

Everyone in my family FFed. DH was BFed and is very pro-BFing. I BFed DS1 for 15 months and hope to BF DS2 for at least that amount of time.

I was FF and I BF and FF both my kids, one longer than the other.

I was FF and I pumped. My mother was very against breast feeding for some reason. I guess the 70's were a different time.

Other - I was FF and I BF my first child, pumped for a little with my second and completely FF my 3rd.

I was a BFing baby (as were my three younger siblings). I Bf my daughter and will for this baby too.

My mother FF me but BF my sister for the first 6 weeks. I plan on BF'ing my DS for at least a year and my Mom is extremely unsupportive. Since day one she has told me to just give him Formula.
