Do you ever wonder (age related)

If the "ailments" you develop when you get older will be the things that hound you in your later years?

For the past few days, my right hand has been somewhat numb when I wake up in the morning. It's acting up because of all the unpacking and cleaning I've been doing the last few weeks.

Sometimes I wonder if this is going to hound me later on, arthritis in my hands or something similar. My father's right hand shakes so bad that he can't write anymore. My mother signs everything for him. His saving grace is the computer - for some reason, it doesn't affect him when he types.

Do you ever wonder about that? Do you ever think... I should take care of this now so I don't have worse problems later?

Unfortunately yes...I have a bum back & there is no way to fix it. It is actually the lasting effects of helping my mom care for my ailing grandparents. Now I need to watch everything I do & there are days when I am in so much pain. When I am older, it is going to be fun Chat Icon

I have issues with my knee. When I told my grandma she was kind enough to point out that I will know when it is going to rain when I get older. Thanks Grandma! Chat Icon

I know I will have arthritis as I get older. I developed it during and right after my pregnancies and I know it will be back. My mother has had it for years, since she was about 40ish, and it runs in my family.

Oh yes!! My knees have always been a mess and I worry about what they will be like in 20,30,40 years.

DH says medical technology will be so superb when we are old that I shouldn't worry Chat Icon

Re: Do you ever wonder (age related)

unfortunately i know my back will be hounding me for the later years to come. This is all sue to the 8 years of retail work i did. Managing a pet store going back between 3 stores on the island every so often working NONSTOP for a long time. Carrying 50lbs + of animal food up and down ladders, lifting heavy dogs to get them in the car for a vet visit. I started having bad back spasms about 4 years into it. It was so bad to the point if i was standing i would have spasm and end up on the floor. I am no longer on my feet for 12 hours at a time but when i am walking around the mall carrying bags or when i go to the gym if i work out to hard or too long then forget it. This time of year is what gets me the most because i am constantly in the mall buying christmas gifts and i go to sit in my car i cry it hurts so bad. So yes i believe this will haunt me for the rest of my life. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
