do you ever use the phrase "white trash" when referring to someone?
just curious if this phrase is used as much as i think it is.

I don't like the term "white trash". To be honest, I always found it a little racist.
I know most people don't think about it, but if you have to qualify trash with a race, does that imply that all other people are automatically trash?
I do use the word trashy though.

Same for me. My old neighbors were just trashy people, the scurge of the block. I called them that, but only to my husband, who knows I am quite far from racist.
But I do curb using that term with others, for that reason. To me, it's just a term that ilicits an image of what they were - not a literal, racist term.

Yes, but not necessarily to refer to a particular person--I use it more to refer to an item or a concept. For example...
I once drove to Home Depot for the express purpose of having dinner at the Nathan's there. So I called my sister on the way home and said, I've just done the most "white trash" thing...
That scenario has taken on a life of its own with the two of us. Now we call one another up to challenge the other to name the most "white trash" medication, for example. Tylenol=normal; HeadOn=white trash. (Apologies to fans of HeadOn! ) Other things...toothpaste, TV shows, cereal, etc. etc.
I realize this is 100% NOT funny to those reading it, but we're literally in tears doing it

I live where the skys are blue but not in a trailer. 
I use not pc terms amongst my friends but I would never say it to someones face.
