Do you ever heal?
We had to put our dog to sleep yesterday and I feel like my heart is literally aching. He was my baby for over 12 years and I miss him so much. I know we did the right thing and we will meet again someday but it still hurts that we had to make the decision. Thanks!

Re: Do you ever heal?
Eventually, sorta. We put Max down in August and just the other day, I got all choked up when something reminded me of him.
Hershey was over two years ago and I didn't get out of bed for the entire weekend when she left us. And I can still get overwhelmed at times when I think about her.
But it will get easier.

Thanks. I was super depressed yesterday and even today I was crying in the car driving around. He drove me nuts sometimes but I soooooooo miss that and keep wanting to tell him bye before I leave the house.

Re: Do you ever heal?
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I lost my dog of 15 years a year ago and it was one of the hardest things I have gone through.
My thoughts are with you.
Hugs...

I lost my dog 8 months ago & it is still difficult at times. I find myself crying when I see something that reminds me of him & especially now that the holidays are upon us, I get choked up. The days do get easier though as time goes on...

Re: Do you ever heal?
I am sorry for your loss. It is a very hard a difficult thing to go through the loss of a pet. I lost my dog og about 13 or 14 years on october 10th. I had gotten myself sick over losing him and cried for days. It did get easier day by day but there are times when i just sit and think about how he is gone and not here any more. I think about him everyday. While hanging the christmas stockings at my moms house i got really upset because it's our first christmas without him and i still wanted to hang his stocking. And i always feel like it was my fault because i was the last person to give him his insulin shot, but i know he is in a better place and he is not suffering anymore. Thats what makes it a little more easier. And i thank god that he atleast made it to my wedding in july.
They are in a better place right now. No more suffering

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know about how long it takes, I just lost my Chablis almost 3 weeks ago, so I am still very raw and miss her terribly. I think that knowing that they are no longer suffering is a comfort to a degree. They give you such unconditional love and have such personalities. I am so sorry

It is terrible and awful and painful....we lost Ebony at this time last year. I can't say you get over it, but it does get easier with time.
I often call our pup Ebony - I can't help it.

I'm so sorry
We had to put my beloved pup to sleep in Oct. after 15 wonderful years. The pain is still there, but it gets easier to bear with time. The holidays are especially sad. We still put up his Puppy's first christmas ornament because it wouldn't seem right to leave it in the box.
I'll say a prayer for your baby.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Everyone is different but for me I found the best way to deal with the loss of a dog is to get another one.
