Do you enjoy your life or do you always worry about save, save, save?
Being that we are going to miss going to Mexico for a wedding and the summer is chock-full of events, I wanted to go to Captiva Island in June, just for a few days.
DH once again has to work, he's in a band and has a gig he "can't get out of".
He also said we need to save $$$
We do a great job of saving, but what good is it if we never do anything but work??????? 
I even got a great deal on the trip, but no, we can't go..
my point? All the saving in the world means nothing if you don't enjoy your life while you live it.........

I think we have a good balance, but we probably should save a bit more than we do-we save and enjoy- but need to start saving more than enjoying

I do what I like to call "Reverse Saving" I spend it on my credit card and wind up paying it out...hence the term reverse saving! Its like saving, only completely backwards!
But I do enjoy!!

I think most would agree that they can't save enough. There's never enough in the bank. We probably could save more, but we do enjoy ourselves. You can't take it with you.

I think Dh and I have different ideas on what the right amount to save is. He is all save, save, save. I like think separate from our retirement, IRA, 401K type savings, a one year cushion is enough and you should be able to enjoy the rest.
I mean, what good is having thousands and thousands of dollars in the bank and being bored or unhappy?

Well, I think DH realized that we need to go away for a few days. He called up someone to see if he could fill in for him.
At least he made an effort, so we'll see.

We enjoy life!! We do try to save as well, but not as much as some people do. In the past 5 years, me and DH have gone of more vacations, then some go on in a life time. We love to eat out, go skiing, shop. I always tell people that it is great to save but, you have to enjoy life.
Of course you don't want to enjoy to much and go into debt.
I work with someone who is 23 and is always talking about how him and his girlfriend don't eat out, go on vacation,because they need to start saving for retirement, a house, etc... This is great, but you are only young once. You can't live your life this way IMO.
As someone posted above, you can't take it with you, and you will never have enough. You need to find a balance.

Right now we are saving for a house, so that comes first. We want to try and go on nice vacation this year. We always manage to get away for the weekend though.

Save, save, save. We do enjoy life but we're such homebodies that we really only like short vacations! Even our honeymoon was only 5 days! We should probably do more enjoying, though....
