Yep. My MIL is very weird and does better on the computer. I email her and usually DH speaks to her on AIM. She even uses Skype with my SIL, BIL and neice (they put the baby on a webcam).
I have talked to her on the phone, but usually it is for a reason, like wedding stuff or when she needs an idea on what to get DH as a gift. She is horrible at calling us. DH and SIL are always angry b/c she doesn't think to call them. DH just graduated from the FDNY EMT Academy on 9/15 and she didn't call him!! AT ALL!

Absolutely.
Email is the only safe form of communication for us!!

My MIL is very computer sassy.
We email each other more than we talk on the phone..I dont think it's rude.

If she emails, it's usually to send a forward or some information. If I have something to say, then I'll just call her. We usually see them 2x week.

I never talk to my MIL on the phone, when she calls its only to talk to her precious son. Email is so mcuh easier then talking on teh phone, she used to email me all the time before the wedding and nowi only get fowards from her.
ETA:I wish i could have a better relationship with her but we are so different i don't think that will ever be possibile.
