Do you e-mail your MIL?

I don't call my MIL nor does she call me. However, I e-mail her every once in awhile to be nice. My DH thinks it's rude.
Do any of you keep in touch w/your MIL via e-mail more than via phone?

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

I dont think my MIL knows what a computer looks like. She can't even figure out when the TV isn't working that its not on channel 3 for the cable box.

I prefer to email MIL than call her. DH doesn't have a problem with it.

I don't think it's rude at all. Why would it be? Chat Icon

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

I prefer to email her or to see her in person. We don't do well on the phone together.

I email with my MIL quite frequently. She'll call the house to talk to us every couple of days - if I happen to answer, we'll chat. If not, it's usually just email.

I used to email mine once in a while.

My MIL rarely calls here, she's odd. But I am NICE and I call her at least once a week to see how she is and to let my 3 year old talk to her. We live 3 hours apart and don't see her that often, you'd think she'd call more, especially since she claims to love me like her own daughter. Chat Icon

DH has yet to justify why he thinks its rude. I think he wishes we had more of a phone thing going on but we never will.

Email is better than nothing.

It's also better than letting a phone call turn into an argument. Chat Icon

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

That would require her being able to actually USE a computer, so that's a no for me.

Of course - all the time! We communicate more via E-mail than by phone. I don't think it's rude at all.

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

Quite often. But, she lives in Israel so I don't see her often and it's difficult to talk over the phone because of the time difference.

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

I rather email, she doesn't let me speak over the phone. At least through email I can get a word in and I have a paper trail, since she likes to exaggerate stories.

Yes we email often and talk on the phone once a week or every other week. DH speaks to his parents every week, sometimes several times a week.

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

I e-mail MIL but she doesn't write back as often.

My big communication problem with MIL is language. Even though she speaks English, sometimes her point is not clearly conveyed. She is eager to speak to me on the phone or e-mail but we have trouble understanding each other. I have a feeling there have been misunderstandings as a result of this.

My MIL & I e-mail a few time a week to say, hi, and catch up. She is not a phone person so we never talk on the phone unless we are planning something.

Re: Do you e-mail your MIL?

My MIL doesn't own a computer, she uses other people's computers. We don't e-mail each other because she doesn't have an e-mail account.
