Do you avoid alcohol during the 2WW?
Just wondering if people avoid alcohol during the 2 WW or if you avoid alcohol altogether while TTC? I am not a big drinker in general, but I feel like not having a drink when I am out to dinner which I typically would sets off the rude "are you pregnant??" question.
I know the tricks of having club soda with lime so it looks alcoholic, but if I drink I would usually have a beer or a glass of wine, so this would look odd as well to those who really know me.

I think one drink is fine. I've had a glass of wine here and there while TTC and I'm not a drinker.

If I am in the 2ww and I am out to dinner, I do have a glass of wine. If I am home, I don't drink. I too am not a big drinker, but sometimes on a Sat when I am cooking I would have a glass. One thing to keep in mind, if you are pg, you don't start sharing blood with the baby til 5 weeks I think.

Re: Do you avoid alcohol during the 2WW?
Coming from an experienced TTCer - When we first started TTC, I was a lot more lax about the whole drinking during the 2ww thing. There really is no evidence that proves that it has any effect on your chances.
However, as time went by, I became a lot more strict and limited myself to one or 2 glasses of wine the entire time. The month I did my IUI, I had gone away with DH towards the end of my 2ww and I did not limit myself at all. I didn't go crazy but I had a few glasses of wine with dinner both nights we were away. I also was convinced I was out because I was feeling my typical AF cramps and she was due any day. Long story short, I ended up with my BFP that month. The irony being that all those months of not drinking, amounted to nothing while the one where I finally just threw caution to the wind ended up being the one! I'm now 7.5 months pregnant with a very healthy baby

I don't avoid it. I did for the months I was doing my IUIs and on clomid and some other months but since Im still here after not drinking I figured I might as well have a few drinks cause its not the alcohol that is preventing a BFP.

This is a timely subject. Last night I went out with DH and IL and had a few beers at dinner. I figured lots of babies were conceived in drunken trysts....While I will stop once I get my BFP I am not a heavy drinker as it is.

Re: Do you avoid alcohol during the 2WW?
First time around yes. I quit drinking, smoking and watched what I ate. I even gave up caffeine. I got a bfp quickly but giving up those things didn't help to make my pregnancy more healthy or successful.
Now that it's been 2 months and no bfp I am not worrying anymore. I can't live my life in 2 week increments because it just adds to the stress.
The only thing I do worry about slightly is the affect alcohol, caffeine and smoking have on fertility. Everything I read says you'll increase your chances if you give those things up.
