Do you always follow Doctors orders

When it comes to your kids? I have to admit, I do not. On major things, of course I do/would, but I mean things like giving tylenol when he says not to or giving cereal when he says to wait.....things like that. I feel like even with "some" doctors orders it may not be what works best/is best for us and our children.

Mostly I do, but there are times that I dont. I do what I feel is best. I was giving DS motrin before the recommened 6 mo b/c of teething (which PeD said 6 mo. for motrin). but the tylenol just wasnt cutting it. I think DS was 5 mo when i started motrin, but his weight is on the higher %ages so I thought it was ok.

yes, i mostly do. the things i haven't followed aren't because i don't agree with them, but rather i forgot or did something else instead.

when i go to the doctor i always follow what he/she tells me to do, and i do the same for my kids

I always do. I am not easily convinced or swayed, yet I feel my ped thinks very much like I do and I trust her opinion always. That is huge for me...so for me, yes, I go with what she says.

DH is a doctor, so no I don't follow anything he says and usually get a second opinion Chat Icon

As for our Ped, I generally trust him. But I might ignore his 4 day first solids rule, and just do 2-3.

Usually I do, but with certain things I feel that as a mom, we know our kids more than the pediatrician. KWIM?

That's exactly what I mean. Its not that I don't completely trust pur Ped, but sometimes I just don't agree because I know my children better than him.

Re: Do you always follow Doctors orders

I am pretty sure that any time I disagreed with my ped's recommendation I was able to discuss it with them to find out why they wanted me to do X Y Z... and then make my own informed decision. So yes, I'd say about 99% of the time I follow doctor's orders. I think if it was any less than that I'd be looking for a new ped.

(I say 99% because right now I can't think of an instance where I didn't listen to the ped but I am sure in the past two years there was one or two times Chat Icon)

No, I def would not give up my ped. I love him and so does DS. I'm only talking minor things, anything major I do agree with his philosophy otherwise, yes, I'd be going elsewhere.

Oh, yeah, if it's something like starting solids at 4 months as opposed to five, or giving tylenol for teething even if there's no fever... I think in those cases mommy knows best and it's more a difference of opinion than an actual health issue.
