DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
DH and I picked Babies R Us because our families are spread out across NJ and Long Island. We thought the multiple locations would make it easier on people.
We went to the one in Westbury, near Roosevelt Field, thinking it is a big store and should have a nice selection.
We spent 2.5 hours - which in DH time is like 1 year - picking out all the little things for our registry. I had already started online and had put about 20 things on, but we added about 90 more in-store.
A few things we changed our minds on even while we were shopping and didn't know how to manipulate the gun very well, so I figured I would make tweaks online.
Babies R US LOST OUR REGISTRY!
They have no record of us being there or of any of the things on it. To top it off, they said they would check with Corporate (I had already tried calling them) and would call me back. I had a few conversations with the girl on Monday and she was kind of blaming me that they had no record of me coming in - not sure how that is my fault? Then, she said she was waiting for corporate IT support and she would call me back. THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK.
I am so pissed. I spent about 1.5 hours creating a new registry on Buy Buy Baby. When I have soooooooo many other things I need to be doing!
I have heard such nightmares about BabiesR Us and their returns.
I am going to try calling their corporate office and complaining - I feel like they should send me a gift card or coupon or something to repay me for my lost time. I am just furious over their mistake and terrible customer service response to it.

Re: DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
Ugh! So sorry that happened to you.
I hate babies r us too. I went in there 8 weeks after dd was born to return something that was purchased off my registry and they claimed my registry was closed out so I had to take lowest selling price. Wtf? 8 weeks? There is so much stuff she doesn't even use until way after 8 weeks. What a stupid policy.
Buy buy baby is 1000% better.

They're awful there. So sorry that happened to you. I hope they remedy the situation somehow. Is there any possibility they spelled your name wrong or something when they entered the info and it's actually still there? I can't imagine all that hard work completely lost.

DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
It has to be a mistake, they must have put in the name wrong or something. When I registered there they gave me a printout of my registry before we left

Sorry you're having such issues. I agree though, when I registered in store they gave me a printout when I turned the gun in. Did you not get one, or is that when the problem arose??

Re: DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
I have a BRU rant from about 1 month ago, you can probably find it on here.. All i can say is do not expect a phone call back. We waited 3 weeks to hear back, after countless phone calls, being placed on hold, directed to the wrong person, wrote letters to coproate, emailed corporate, posted on their FB page (at the suggestion of another LIFer) and Ive been bounced all over the place. After all off that effort, i received a generic letter in the mail that said they would speak with the appropriate departments... I didn't expect freebies but I though at least a coupon would have shown an effort..
I've wasted so much time and energy getting angry with them, on the phone with incompetent people, etc.. My one major regret is registering with them.
So sorry for what you're going through. But their customer service is absolutely AWEFUL!

I never had an issue with them either (aside from their BS 20% off cupons ) although I never had to return anything from my registry. The manager at Commack actually went way out of his way for us when we were trying to purchase a chair that was on sale but somehow out of stock everywhere.
This sounds like a total nightmare, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It almost sounds like the store employee forgot to hit "save" when you completed the registry. I would not be too happy!

DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
They are the worst with a return policy. When you're selling items for a BABY and BABY REGISTRY they have to understand some things won't be used within 90 days of purchase. Do I have to unpack/put together my High chair, Exersaucer, Convertible seat, etc. immediately to see if they're ok?? That's completely ridiculous!!!
I returned something to BBB last month. My DD is 13 months! Full registry price back, no questions asked! They have a much better understanding of their target customers.

110% I loved using Bed Bath and Beyond for my wedding, didn't register anywhere else so I figured why not use the same company for our LO. I've never been a fan of Toy R Us or that company. I seem to remember having problems with them in the past so I just steer clear

We started the registry online before we went in - so we were there to add to it. Therefore, there isn't a way they spelled my name wrong since it is done by scanning a bar code and registry #, not last name.
DH turned in the scanner and I had to use the ladies room. He said we were all set and I figured I would look at everyone online once we got home. I think the person just didn't click save or upload the file or something. I call corporate and they had no record.
Just horrible and I hate that the store representatives don't care and didn't call me back.

Same here. I wanted to give people the option of 2 locations, but then decided it wasn't worth the aggravation of dealing with their poor return policy and customer service.

DO NOT REGISTER AT BABIES R US
That really sucks losing the whole registry after all that time spent adding to it! By any chance did you try deleting any items from your registry using the scanning gun? I was surprised when I went back to BRU for the second time after startIng my registry when the girl who gave me the scanner warned me not to try to delete anything using it because I could accidentally delete the whole registry that way. She said if you want to delete anything either ask at the desk or do it online. It was great that She told me that but I couldn't help but wonder why the salesgirl who helped us start the registry and first sent us out with the scanner never said anything about that. They really should make sure every single employee that hands out the scanners tells customers about that.

Use diapers.com if you are looking an online registry. The have the best registry I think. You get $50 in credits to the website for every 500 in registry purchases. Free shipping on all registry products, good return policy etc...
