Do Groupons really expire?

We bought Groupon tix for Sesame Place at $35 pp. According to them the normal price is $69pp to enter. I just realized that the expiration date says 6/21 and we were planning on going 6/22. I just had a live chat convo with someone at Groupon. I asked them if they could extend the date by 1 day. She told me that it doesn't expire. I said well I realize I can still use it for the money I paid $35pp, but the groupon states after the expiration you must pay the original price but can use your groupon towards it. I do not want to have to pay over $100 extra. If that's the case we will try to get there before 6/21. She keeps telling me no no, you just tell Sesame you want to use your Groupon and that's it, I wont have to out lay any more money !??? She literally told me they just put expiration dates so people use them quickly and don't forget about them!?? I have it all in writing on my screen right now. I don't believe her, lol. I will try calling Sesame tomm and ask them myself. I just don't want to go all the way there and then Sesame denies the Groupon and makes me pay the price difference!! SO my question is, do Groupons really expire and do you have any experience with something like this? TIA !!!

Do Groupons really expire?

The groupon deal expires, but you never lose the value of what you paid. For example, you bought a group in for $25 that gives you $50 worth at a restaurant. You never lose the $25, but they won't honor the $50 value.

In my experience you would be responsible for the additional $34. I would be surprised if they extend it for you. Usually the dates are pretty strict, that's why there's a limited time offer.

You will lose the deal on 6/22; if the promotional value xpires 6/21 then after that they will just deduct the $35 you paid from the $69 admission and you will owe another $34 per person. and im pretty sure Sesame will not extend it to 6/22.

100% the girl is wrong. The bar code will not scan for the deal price after midnight on the 21st. It will change to a voucher for a credit worth the purchase price. I am like the Groupon queen, lol.

Ditto what everyone already said. We were in the same boat last year. We went running to Sesame Place on the last day of the groupon so that we wouldn't have to pay the difference.

I had a brunch Groupon a while back and the place was booked for over a month in advance. My Groupon was expired by the date I actually used it. When I made the reservation though, I talked to the manager and he agreed to honor the Groupon deal. It's up to the business though. There is no way Groupon can tell you that a business will still honor the deal price.

A woman at Groupon told me that as long as you make a reservation before the expiration date, they are supposed to honor the deal price but in my experience... most businesses refuse. In your situation, there is no way I would trust what that woman told you.

Yes. They expire. Funny how the expiration date is 6/21 just in time for when school is almost out. Annoying but very clever on their part.
