Re: Disney food plan
There are three plans...
Counter service, basic plan (CS and TS), and deluxe which is basically 3 meals a day...tons of sit downs.
Most go for the basic plan. One CS, one TS and one snack.
It depends is the answer. It depends on where you want to eat, your eating habits, and how many sit downs you want.
If you plan to eat TS and do the more expensive character meals (dinners more so than breakfasts), eat at more expensive restaurants and plan to order steaks or seafood and desserts. It might be a good deal for you. We have come out ahead in the past. But we have skipped it the past two trips. We wanted to be more flexible. The kids wanted to do fewer sit downs as the week goes on. We like salads rather than desserts at our meals and we eat at sci fi which is not worth getting the plan. We might go back to I someday bug not now. It does work for many, esp if it is free. But if you are paying I recommend sitting down with allearsnet menus and pricing out what you think you would eat.
TS gives you entree, dessert and NA drink. Tips are not included. It was a better deal when apps and tips were included.
The deluxe plan is way too much food IMO. I have friends who like it and get it but they do sit down character breakfasts and sit down dinners and CS lunches and they do signature places.
Also something to keep in.mind if it isn't free dining deal. If you have to skip a meal bc your child gets sick or cranky, or you just don't feel like going....not only will you have the $10 credit card guarantee pp but you will have to find another way to use your credit or you lose it. I know many (including us) who didn't use at least one credit for one reason or another.
Now having said the above....if you eat at more expensive places...don't mind what I mentioned it can be a great thing. I just think you have to weigh the pros and cons bc it really varies by family as to whether it works for you. Also it works better for some trips than for others. It was good for us in the past. We will probably get it again someday....just not now unless it is free.
