help plan DC's bday - time start, schedule w/food, etc

1. how many hours should a 3 yo party be?

2. what should the schedule look like? (ex. entertainment begins at..., food served at..., etc.)

3. what's a good time to 'start' the party? morning or afternoon?

I've always done 2 hour parties at home. So for example, a 12-2pm party would look like this:
12: guests assemble, we eat lunch
12:30 or 12:45: entertainment lasting until around 1:30 or so
1:30: cake
2: everyone get out.
