Did you start your DC on rice, oatmeal, or veggies?
I just read last nigh, that many parents are starting their DC's on veggies, rather than the rice or oatmeal?
Just curious what your thoughts were on this, and when did you start them on the above?

I started my kids on oatmeal. For me, I think it is easier on their little bellies than rice and veggies. After cereal when i started fruits and veggies I did veggies first.

my ped had me start w/ ric. DS loved it. when that box emptied, i got oatmeal. Startinf vegs next week

I went through all of the cereals, then the fruits, then the veggies. We are moving onto meats this week.

We started with rice and oatmeal. Then we moved onto to veggies and fruit. We did most of the veggies before moving on to fruit. We haven't tried barley yet because I had trouble finding it. I just found it last week at BRU.

oatmeal, then rice, then veggies, then fruit
ETA: I gave cereal for about a month b/c I started solids at 4 months and I didn't think she was really ready yet...I did the oatmeal for a week...then I added the rice-I moved that up to the morning and the oatmeal to later in the day since I knew she didn't have a reaction to it...after a month of her getting oatmeal and rice I added the vegetables...then I moved the vegetables to the later meal since I knew she was ok with them and started fruit in the morning...I never did just one thing only.

We did oatmeal, then barley, then veggies, then fruits. We skipped rice altogether because he has constipation issues to start with.

Same here. After 2 weeks of oatmeal, ped said we could start mixing in veggies or fruits. He suggested "the yellows" - squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc. Since then we've slowly been introducing new fruits and veggies.

5 months - veggies
6 months - fruits
7 months - meats

we started with rice, DS didnt like it too much so i tried the oatmeal..and loved that. I did that for about a week and then introduced an orange veggie at a midday feeding. right now we're on carrots and squash and DS loves it.

Our ped recommended any single grain cereal to start with. We chose the rice since it came in a tub with a lid. I'm not a fan of the boxes that don't close very well and make a mess when you pour them.

We started with applesauce then yams. Both easy to digest and delicious  We Exclusively Breast Feed and DC had no interest in solids until 8 months...

we started DS on Rice.. but he wasn't super into it- so I added a tsp of apples to it after I gave him a few days and realized he wasn't allergic to the rice..
in a few days I'll probably add veg.

we started with rice cereal, but it constipated him. Then we did oatmeal for a couple days. I ended up combining both boxes of rice and oatmeal and doing that until the container was empty. Then we moved on to sweet potatoes, then squash, then bananas, etc.

oatmeal & b/c the ped told me too! haha
I think rice/oatmeal allows them figure out how to eat and also allows there bellies to prepare

I started both my DC are cereal. I can't remember if I started with rice or oatmeal, but I gave the, oatmeal rice and barley before I moved on to green veggies.

I started with rice, then moved onto oatmeal, then veggies/fruits. This was my pediatrician's recommendation.
