Did you get mail today?
Just curious. I told DH it's too cold for carriers, but he kept looking for mail. Post office website says there is a possibility of late or non-deliveries, but deliveries would be attempted today. No mail for us even though our mailbox is easily accessible.

I haven’t gotten mail since Wednesday, but oddly enough the mailman delivered an amazon package today. Aside from that, no real mail since Wednesday.

There was a whole discussion about this on my moms page on FB. A woman from the post office responded and said that they are down many Carriers and Carriers who made it in were forced to pick up the excess routes which is 8 hours of walking in this weather. She added the mail trucks Don't have heat. Can you even imagine? So she was just saying everyone needs to be patient. I can't even imagine these poor Carriers negotiating the snow in this weather.

That is because from what I read in a few articles recently, they are at risk for losing their contract with Amazon if they don't deliver their packages on time.
We got mail everyday except Thursday. I did get a picture of my mail that day though, so they must have been in, then left early (I signed up for the informed delivery service so they send me pics of my scanned mail each day).

I did. I have two "letter carriers" in my family and they both went to work. Even on Thursday. Thursday was the only day they didn't go out to deliver though.

I love it! Especially since our mailman is terrible (we actually never have the same one really!), and we get a lot of other people's mail, and they probably get mine. So at least with my daily digest, I can see what I might be missing. It always emails me when I have packages coming to my address, and every step of the way (delays, etc.)

That was never actually a USPS quote/slogan/motto/etc.
One of the architects who designed the main NYC post office liked the quote, so he had it carved in the building, with the USPS's OK.

us either - no mail since wednesday --- hoping today is the day...
we even got notices that they had attempted to deliver amazon packages but we weren't home to accept.
um, no, we were there, and um, no we dont have to sign.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is pointless?
I certainly don't need my mail daily. Packages I like being delivered most days, but mail, I could care less. My mail consists of bills. The rest are advertisements that the US Government essentially subsidizes the delivery of.
I like my mailman. I think it is a huge waste of his effort to deliver on the storm day and even on these super cold days. IMHO it is too great a risk of falling, freezing etc.
I'm assuming those in really cold regions have mailboxes at the curb and the mail carrier can deliver from his/her truck. Or there are other provisions for this.
I'd personally like to see mail go down to twice a week.
