Did/Does anyone elses baby have "flat head"

DD has developed a flat head. The dr. said it's fine and will probably fill back out once she is sitting up, rolling over, etc.
I do tummy time with her and whatnot, but she definitely likes to sleep on her back.

Anyone elses DC have flat head?

Re: Did/Does anyone elses baby have "flat head"

DS is 5 months old and has this on the left side.

our dr sent us to a pediatric neurologist for a consult. The ped neuro said to do a lot of tummy time and exersaucer---basicaly anything that avoided DS laying down.

We go back next week to see if he needs to wear a helmet.

Just be conscious of how he is sleeping and position him so all sides of the head are even

Re: Did/Does anyone elses baby have "flat head"

My DS had a pretty bad flat starting at about 3 months old. At 7 months it had gotten worse and our Ped sent us to see a pediatric neurologist (thinking we would definitely need a helmet)However, the neurologist told us that it would fill itself out once he started rolling over, sitting up,crawling, sleeping on his belly etc, and if it did not fill out on its own to come back. Needless to say at 18 months he is fine and you cannot even tell how flat it really once was!

I found that starting the exersaucer early was extremely helpful, as well as the bumbo seat, sitting him in his high chair, lots of play time on the floor, and really refraining from putting him in the carseat/snap and go for extended periods of time!

Re: Did/Does anyone elses baby have "flat head"

DS started developing a flat head at 4 weeks. He hated tummy time so I let him spend as much time as he wanted leaning on me when I was sitting on the couch so that he wasn't always lying on the back of his head. The ped wasn't worried and told us it should fix itself by around 6 months when he started spending more time upright. The ped was right and it fixed itself- people now comment on what a nicely rounded head he has! We also used the Boppy Noggin Nest when he was lounging around in his bouncer and swing.

Another tip we got was when we put him on his back, if he appeared to favor one side (such as facing the door) to alternate the direction he was lying to give both sides equal time.

DD did at about 3 months, but it is much better now at 6 months!

ETA -- I got the Boppy Noggin Nest for her carseat and I think it really helped. I also broke out the jumperooo pretty early bc she had great head contro land she would hang out in there instead of the bouncer.

DS had a VERY flat head until about 6 months. As soon as he was stable enough for the exersaucer and the jumperoo I left him in there as much as possible. Tummy time was hard because he started to roll over by 13 weeks and never stopped after that.
The bumbo seat is also a good option. DS hated it but I know a lot of kids like it.
