Did/Do you sit in the backseat with your LO?

DS is 7 months old and if DH and I are both in the car I still find myself automatically going to sit in the back seat with him. When I'm alone with him in the car I don't worry about him being back there by himself so I'm not sure why I haven't moved back up front yet when we're all together...

If you sat in the back seat with your LO how long did you do it for?

I only did if it was a long ride and only up until about 5 months old

Only if i was trying to keep her awake. If we were driving home around 5pm & she didn't nap all day I'd sit back there to make sure she stayed awake because there was no way I was going to let her nap that late, she would be up all night.
Otherwise never

We have twins, so I've only ever squeezed back there on a long road trip when they were screaming their heads off.

No I ride in the front. We have a mirror set up and keep an eye on her! A few times I have had to jump back there to give her a snack or keep her entertained when she was crying!

I will still do it sometimes if I need to keep him awake or its a super long car ride. DS is 18 months old.

Only once. Wa on the way home from the hospital.

He's sleeping 90% of the time and the time he's awake I can teach him so there's no need.

If I'm afraid he'll fall asleep, yes I have either myself or whomever I'm with (DH or my mom usually) stay back there.

I know I did on the way home from the hospital and I think the first few times we went over to my folks house, but that's about it

i did for a verrrryyyyy long time b/c dd would scream no matter what we did. I hated every moment of it since I would get nauseous in the back. I wound up driving more than my dh.

If I was by myself obviously she was alone int he back, but she still screamed. Made for very long car rides even if 5 mins haha

Now we have 2 and I don't. If dd2 is crying I pop over the seat and try to give paci, or whatever.

Only a few times as an infant. I stopped around 2 months old maybe

Once and he screamed the entire time because he saw me sitting there and wanted to come out.

I did the same exact thing. It did not matter how far our drive was, I just always jumped in the back. After a while my family started to make fun of me, but I did not care. I eventually stopped around 9 or 10 months.

we did on the way home from the hospital - that was it
over the summer (DD was 6 months) we took a 7 hour drive to virginia - she stayed in the back by herself the entire trip

I always did but lately I have been sitting in the front except for long trips. DS will be two in a couple weeks.

eta: I always assumed everyone did when he was little I was too scared not too

I sat in the back with her until she was about a year. Now, I only do it if she's Miss Cranky Pants and I want to try to soothe her.

Never. I would have on the way home from the hospital (although DD did pass the nicu carseat test), but there was really no room with 2 carseats back there. I have the mirrors so I can see them and they are fine.

I wouldn't want them to get too dependent on that though b/c I go out without them often and there would be no one back there then.

I stopped after maybe 2 months, unless it was a loooooooooong car ride and I wanted to entertain her.

I guess I should stop. He's fine back there on his own if he's in the car with only me or only DH so I don't think he cares one way or another. When he's in the back by himself he just talks to himself in the mirror or he plays with the soft rattle I let him keep back there... I'm probably the one who is dependent on it!! LOL!

I still do and dd is almost 1, so there's not really any need for it but I just do it out of habit I think.
