We got a house filled with dog hair! I think their cleaning lady had 2 months off before they moved.
Oh and take out menus.

She said she would leave a shop vac and I think a step ladder but by the time we actually got her to move out she was so ****** she took it with her. She was old and got herself downstairs & brought up the stuff herself yet was trying to pull the "I'm an old woman" card on us.
Our new neighbors left us a bottle of champagne & we left a bottle to the couple who bought the house my family grew up in.

At first, I just thought about a bunch of problems that they left us. Our sellers didn't give us a "gift" but they did leave us an envelope with every record, warranty, important bills, etc. That was incredibly helpful! They also left us extra paint and spare parts as needed for things in the house.

We didn't get anything from the broker or RE either. Again - didn't expect anything.
This is the first time I've heard of such a thing...

Ours was an estate sale, our seller could have cared less about the house and who was buying it. Very nice lady but didn't give a crap about the house! I didn't even know people left gifts for buyers!
I'm totally going to do this when we sell our house one day, I think it's such a nice gesture!

The previous owners left us a TON of great stuff. Lawnmower, snowblower, hedge trimmer, ladder, paint, nice storage cabinets in the garage, mini blinds and vertical blinds on every single window, nice light fixtures in the kitchen & dining room, pool table & accessories, floor lamp, a few plastic backyard chairs, every manual for all appliances and a notebook filled with little details about stuff in the house and or companies they used for various things. They were fantastic sellers. Our realtor gave us a nice Lenox picture frame.

Champagne and a really nice note from the seller. A key chain from the mortgage broker and a welcome basket from the neighborhood/town. Nothing from my real estate agent at all.

They let us keep the oil (1/4 tank's worth) for free 
They were very nice but I never expected anything from them.

Our sellers were SO nice!
They left us a ton of stuff- 3 couches, a pull out couch, cleaning supplies and yard supplies, plus a bottle of champagne!
ETA: Our REA gave us a 50 dollar GC to a restaurant right near us.

We DID get something from the seller.
He was actually very generous. He paid for our closing cost on the house, and they over estimated it by $1800.00. Well he said that since we were a young couple starting out he wanted us to have the extra 1800. So we left closing with that. Then when we went to the house, we found a letter on the counter telling us congrats on the house, a bottle of wine, 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 cups, and silverware. (The letter said this is for until you unpack the dishes) and he left all the local take out menus.

I didn't even get a roll of friggin toilet paper! It was a nasty divorce and the husband left a car engine in the garage that he promised he would remove.....that was an awesome gift! My borther and SIL got a bottle of wine and a plaque that said "Welcome Home" with a card--so nice!!

We didn't get anything from the rea or broker. I didnt think the seller got us anything until I read this post - the house was immaculate so I guess that's a gift. Plus extra tiles, etc.
I think leaving a gift for the buyer is a lovely gesture and I had planned to do this before I got messed with. We were planning a bottle of wine. Plus I was going to have the lawn freshly mowed and a prof clean.

our rea gave us a bottle of champagne. the sellers left us a decent amount of tools, stuff in the shed, a ladder, some garbage cans, and 3 wall ac units. everything was old and most of it has crapped out within the year, but it was a nice thought and helped out a lot as new homeowners :)

Thankfully we tore down the wall to make a bigger bedroom or those would have been patched and we would have never known
