Did anyone lose weight during pregnancy?

OBVIOUSLY I don't mean through dieting!

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago. At my 31w visit I was only up 14 lbs. total.

Yesterday, at my 32w visit, I somehow lost 4 lbs. and I'm now only up 10 at 32w4d.

Is it normal to lose weight during pregnancy? My eating habits have changed a bit but I'm still eating roughly the same amt and I'm certainly more sedentary being on bedrest ... I would have expected to gain in the past week because I have barely moved.

My OB has not seemed concerned at all with my weight so I'm not worrying, but just curious.

I lost 3lbs my last week - I assume it was water weight bc my appetite didn't change.

yes with #1 I lost 22 lbs total from start to finish (before giving birth) and so far I'm 29 weeks and down about 16 lbs.

My dr isn't concerned either as she nicely says I'm not 90 lbs to begin with.

ETA: I do not have GD and by no means "watch" what I eat. Clearly you can tell from my post about Nathans weenies with cheese fries lol

I mentioned to my obgyn that I lost weight in the last few weeks and he said as long as I am not hungry, then it is fine. I'm losing because I'm finally watching what I am eating. A lot more veggies and fruits will do that to you. lol

My sister only gained 6 pounds one pregnancy but she is heavy so the doctor said nothing.

i wish! but no so far ive only gained! i know a bunch of people who lost weight in the very begining due to MS.

I haven't, but I have heard that people who become diagnosed with GD and then have to modify their eating habits, can (and generally will) lose some weight.

I've lost 5 pounds so far! I've been watching what I eat and totally cut out all caffeine and sweets from my diet!!!

My dr said its fine....

I did recently but my eating has changed a bit and now that i am drinking more, I think it does affect that...also, my swelling is down since I'm not on my feet all day and drinking....some of it had to be retention...my dr is ok with it and I wasn't so small to begin with...

yes, and I do not have GD.
I'm down 23 lbs from my pre-pg weight...

I lost a few pounds in the beginning -- also a diabetic here.

When you alter your diet it can really affect your weight rapidly.

I've lost about 10 pounds from morning sickness. I'm sure I'll gain it back soon though.

i'm 26w today but during my first 12w i lost 6lbs. i have sinced gained those back

I am average weight to begin with and at my 2nd appt I was 3 pds lighter. I think maybe I was wearing heavier clothers the first time bc I had NO morning sickness & have been eating plenty.

The only thing I can think of is--could the wine I am NOT drinking bc of pregnancy really cause me to lose 3 pds ??? If so that is scary!

My friend who had GD had the same issues. That was why they ended up testing her for GD a little early.
Her weight gain/loss was a sign for it.

When I was pregnant with my dd I lost 20lbs the first trimester and didnt start gaining till about 18 weeks. It was because I had loss of appetite. By the time k was down those 20 they said if I didn't start gaining by 18 weeks I would need protein shakes because I was only about 105 lbs. I'm having the same thing this time around but im not so worried as I was last time. I'm 9 weeks and down about 6 lbs

I have GD and lost about 10 pounds once I went on the diet outlined by the nutritionist. Then, I didn't gain or lose anything for about 6-7 weeks. Now, at 36 weeks, I'm gaining water weight.

me, down 10 lbs since my first appt. Im 36 weeks.

was losing from beginning (not dieting), but the gd diet really helped me not gain anything recently

Thanks everyone for the insight! I didn't think I would be losing any weight at any point but I guess it makes a bit of sense with the GD guidelines I've been following.

Yes!

I'm overweight to begin with so it was actually healthy for me to loose weight, but I was so sick for 4 months straight, i lost 32lbs since finding out i was pregnant.

With DD I lost about 3 lbs towards the very end!

I lost 3 lbs between my 36 and 37 week appointment.

Beacause your diet is so altered when you have GD, it's likely that you will lose some weight. It's the limitations on carbs and sugars that is doing that for you.

I have to tell you, I had 2 friends diagnosed with GD and they looked AWESOME and I think it's because they were forced to eat so healthy. Their skin looked great, they didn't look like they had anything but baby weight and they said they had a lot more energy too.
