Delivery at Good Sam?
I am having some issues with my ob deferring to my peri and am considering switching (at 32+ weeks) and delivering at Good Sam. Do they have private rooms? Is it a nice hospital? Issues? How strict are they with visiting hours for siblings? Thanks!!

Re: Delivery at Good Sam?
I delivered there 2 years ago, at the time:
We toured Labor and Delivery and they have nice private rooms with flat screens and dimming lights but I had a Csection so I didn't get to use these.
Once they move you down to maternity, they have like, 2 private rooms and you can't reserve them or pay extra for them.
All the other rooms were semi private, some of the bathrooms were shared between 2 rooms. Visiting hours they were extremely lax. You can keep baby in your room most of the time (they only asked for DD back when they had to do weight, bili levels etc, maybe an hour?)
Overall it was clean and the staff was good, the only gripe I had was sharing a bathroom with 3 other women. But, when I had DD they were so packed women who delivered after me had their rooms on the floor below us so I guess it could have been worse.

Re: Delivery at Good Sam?
I delivered there 1 1/2 years ago and am returning there this pregnancy. My only complaints were it's nearly impossible to get one of the two private rooms. The rooms you share are pretty tight and they are very laid back about visiting hours, almost too laid back when you are trying to get some sleep. Other than that the nurses were great and I had a good experience overall.

Re: Delivery at Good Sam?
I delivered DD at Good Sam in late October 2007. Like the other PP's said, do not count on getting a private room. I think the only person I know who successfully got one had something (maybe MRSA??) that forced them to be isolated from others. I can't complain though - I had an awesome roommate! In late 2007 they were very strict with visiting hours, but reading recent posts, that might have changed.

I delivered there 4/3/2010
I did have a private room, whihch I think was bc I had high blood pressure issues. I had no problems whatsover and no they werent strict with visiting hours. Part of the first day I had visitors but then bc of the blood pressure I wasnt allowed any visitors. I loved all the nurses and had a great experience

Re: Delivery at Good Sam?
I delivered there June 08. And am going back next month. I did have a private room. I don't know how I got it. But I did. Happy since I had a section and was there longer. But the room is sooooo small. The nurses were great.
I do remember the guard coming around at 8 and asking people to leave, even in my private room.
Baby was not in my room, was in NICU.
