DD has a nasty cough when she sleeps
Aside from elevating her crib mattress and using a humidifier, what else can I do to help her cough? She doesn't cough at all during the day, but when I put her down for a nap or bedtime she has a nasty cough that will often wake her up. She's almost 2. Thanks!

It's probably post nasal drip
Not sure if they can have benedryl before 2 years old- if they can the ped would have to give you the dose
That helps dry it up
I'd call them and ask

it could be a dust/dust mite allergy.
My DS has one. Buy a new pillow and go down to sheets (meaning launder or leave out any blankets). Remove rugs. We ended up adding an air filter and his cough completely went away. He did have post nasal drip (caused by allergies).
We actually cancelled an appointment with a pulmonologist when we did this and his chronic cough disappeared overnight. When it comes back, we toss his pillow and get another. It's amazing.

This is interesting. My son is 15 months but has a cough at night as well, only when laying down in bed. At times he wakes himself up and you can see how upset he gets. I am going to look into the air filter.

It's amazing. we borrowed one at first, and ended up buying one shortly after. I think dust/dust mite allergy is very common. We also now launder his sheets weekly. He's older, so we wrap his mattress in plastic.

If it is a cough that has developed recently maybe take her to the pediatrician to be sure its not something else. My son had been coughing and I brought him to the ped and they said it was just a cold, three weeks later the cough was persisting, we went back, and he had an ear infection and needed antibiotics.

DD has a nasty cough when she sleeps
My son 2 is on Zyrtec for nasal drip/allergies it really dries him up and no coughing. Ask your Ped about it. Also Benydrl will also help him dry out too.
